Please tell me that you're trolling. If Hartwell is bring back GA without even bothering to interview candidates like Jay Hill or Lance Anderson, he deserves to lose his job. He completely destroyed the last program that he coached. Why on earth do we want him here?

i'm not this adamant against the idea, but if some of the posters are to be believed, donors and blue-noses want him backStanfordAggie wrote: ↑November 29th, 2018, 5:42 pmPlease tell me that you're trolling. speculation: maybe hartwell sees his job as being easier if he pleases people with money?

Hartwell would love to do a proper search and find the "correct" fit. BUT... he may not have a choice.StanfordAggie wrote: ↑November 29th, 2018, 5:42 pmPlease tell me that you're trolling. Re: Gary Andersen is coming back.
We know he can coach. If anybody is going to be the football version of Stew, it's Andersen. He can recruit. He can fire up kids. He can hire good assistants. His recruiting contacts are likely better too. I'm all for it.

This choice is above Hartwell's pay grade.

Re: Gary Andersen is coming back.
If our donors are really forcing Hartwell to bring back GA, then we deserve whatever happens, I guess. Ugh. How can people be so short-sighted? Lance Anderson is HC in waiting at Stanford and his family is an hour or two from Logan. And he's an ace recruiter in the state of Utah. Why are we passing him up for a retread who just destroyed the last school he coached at?

Re: Gary Andersen is coming back.
Of course, I was also upset that Barnes hired GA the first time rather than DeWayne Walker. I was also disappointed that Stanford hired Jim Harbaugh rather than Norm Chow. So my track record for choosing football coaches is not the best. I'd love it if I'm proven wrong and GA is successful here. But one good season after a decade of coaching doesn't make me very optimistic.

Re: Gary Andersen is coming back.
Probably not, but if Hartwell (or whoever is pulling Hartwell's strings) hires GA without even giving Lance Anderson a call, that's malpractice, in my book. (Or do you have some inside information that Hartwell did call him and got turned down? That would make me feel a little better about the situation.)QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑November 29th, 2018, 5:48 pmHe won't come here.StanfordAggie wrote:If our donors are really forcing Hartwell to bring back GA, then we deserve whatever happens, I guess. Re: Gary Andersen is coming back.
I don't love him, I like him.
I think he's our best shot at keeping our roster and cruits in tact. And he's certainly not a drop off from Wells at the very least.
The OSU record does concern me, but being a mild ducks fan, idk how anybody can win there.

If he comes back it better not be as head coach. That would be stupid.

Re: Gary Andersen is coming back.
I think GA would be a good hire as he has P5 head coaching experience and has experienced both successful and losing seasons. I think he is hungry to prove himself and wants a second chance. He knows USU football having coached here and is familiar with everything. He helped begin our resurgence and I believe he can continue to keep us at a pretty high level. I think that he would be a perfect fit!

Really? Destroyed? That program was trash when he got there. What he did in no way hurt that program.StanfordAggie wrote:Please tell me that you're trolling. If he does come back and we lose Farmer, he needs to bring TJ Woods with him.

Re: Gary Andersen is coming back.
So we've gone from not being able to get a basketball coach worth a damn because we are cheap Utah State to being good enough to lure away one of the top football assistants(Lance Anderson) in the west? All within a years time? Cool story bro!StanfordAggie wrote: ↑November 29th, 2018, 5:49 pmOf course, I was also upset that Barnes hired GA the first time rather than DeWayne Walker. I trust Hartwell to make the correct decision. I was impressed with the way he handled the search for our new basketball coach and think he will make the right choice.
