Couldn’t a field goal kicker with a pulled hamstring still be able to attempt an onside kick? It seems he could probably still do that?? The thought just occured to me a couple hours after watching their punt fail to give them any chance.

He was on the sideline in warmups so it wasn’t an option.

For a big kicker he doesn’t seem very tough. Have you seen him “try” and tackle this year? Looks like he is trying to not get hurt and kick forever but it may have cost him his job.

I've been a Seahawks fan since Dave Craig was handing the ball to Curt Warner and throwing to Steve Largent. But I knew the fun was over when they signed Russell to that huge contract. The economics of the hard-cap NFL are very hard to overcome. I talked about this in a thread four years ago viewtopic.php?f=7&t=31451&p=311871. Russell's cap hit is over 13% of the team's total budget.
Russell is good, but he's not good enough to win the Superbowl by himself.

Yet when Russell ran or threw the ball, they were a lot better than running every play. Defense on the qb draw sucked, but I’d rather seen them open it up a little. Cowboys came ready to stop the run.

That's what I'm saying. Russell, no matter how good he is individually, can't win a Superbowl by himself. Not even Tom Brady could do that. Brady only started winning Superbowls again after he restructured his deal so that the Patriots had enough money to get some decent players to surround him.
