Re: New commit
I have been puzzled by the lack of D1 offers for Jaylen Warren. Us & Hawaii are his only D1 offers. BYU desperately needs help at RB and they haven't even offered him.

He was going to walk on at byu prior to the 2018 season and he changed his mind and went back to Snow.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑January 8th, 2019, 9:52 amI have been puzzled by the lack of D1 offers for Jaylen Warren. Re: New commit
I'm still shocked he didn't get more offers out of HS. I thought his tape looked really good and many fans here wanted us to offer back then. I'm so pumped to see him as an Aggie.

Re: New commit
I think we probably made the right decision at the time to not offer him, and I think we have made the right decision again to bring him in now!

Re: New commit
I'm not 100% certain on this but I suspect that Jaylen may have not been academically eligible coming out of high school, which sadly seems to be a trend with East High football players nearly every season.

The 84102 ZIP code has kinda become 3rd world. All those ewe students and professors and such. they're a bad influence on the high schoolers East is recruiting these days.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Rumor has it that the Y is no longer going to take JC transfers. At least, that was something I saw on cougarboard recently.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑January 8th, 2019, 9:52 amI have been puzzled by the lack of D1 offers for Jaylen Warren. Re: New commit
Warren looks like a tank (5'9", 215). Love the punishing wood he lays on DBs once he picks up a full head of steam. Like most tanks, it Warren does not have breakaway speed (4.65 40), but he looks like a beast to bring down. He led the NJCAA in YPC with 7.7 (and by the looks of things, it wouldn't be surprising if he also led the nation in yards after contact).
One thing that troubles me a bit is that he had only 8 receptions this past season compared to 132 rushes, for a ratio of only about 6%. I hope that extremely low ratio is a function of Snow College's offensive scheme and not a reflection of poor receiving ability. For the Aggie's offense to be as successful as it can be, I think they need to have a number of ways to get their most talented offensive players the ball in the open field -- on swing passes, screens, shovel passes, and outlet passes over the middle -- not just handing/pitching it to them in the backfield.

I mean, whenever you have the opportunity to reduce the total number of impact players you can have on your team you have to do it, right?LKGates wrote: ↑January 8th, 2019, 11:01 amRumor has it that the Y is no longer going to take JC transfers. Re: New commit
As the JUCO offesnsive player of the year, you would think he would have more D1 offers. Looking at his tape he is a bruiser. He does not have that breakaway speed, but he can be very successful in our offense.

Just keep on doing what you're doing. It's working great for the rest of us.LKGates wrote: ↑January 8th, 2019, 11:01 amRumor has it that the Y is no longer going to take JC transfers.
