Oops. Yes. I fixed it. In regards to Jackson, who doesn't like the possibility of immediate playing time?

I really like Carter and Lampkin but can we really rely and freshman to be impact players. Don't get me wrong, freshmen can definitely have an impact, but that is usually the exception. I also think that Green was the exception for a grad transfer. We might have some grad transfers lined up, but overall, we will need a few breaks for the WR position to pan out. Am I overreacting?

I really like this list. If we get them all, this would be a historic class for us. Of coarse the proof is in what happens on the field, but on paper you have to like our chances. Now for that summer signing of some grad transfer receivers!

To date, our pre-Gary recruiting was objectively better. There’s been like two commits worth getting excited since Gary came aboard.CW51 wrote: ↑January 26th, 2019, 12:26 pmHussey I think would be a great addition as well.

Case in point... who?!?
I like the Warren and Tatum pickups. The rest seem like diamonds in the rough. We also don’t seem to be addressing obvious needs. We’ve offered like 6,000 DBs in the last month.

My guess is sign and send. Don’t want to be too harsh, but I can’t imagine using one of our last 5 scholarships on someone that doesn’t appear to have any other offers (or that’s on anyone’s radar).

Audie Omotosho is leaving UCLA...a former four star recruit from Texas. He had LOTS of offers out of high school, and we even offered him, so he has some affiliation with us. He never played in a UCLA game (idk if injuries played a part), but he is a 6' 2'' wide receiver and if I am not mistaken...we still need wide receivers?! If he wants a good QB to play with for 1 year and a place to prove his skill...next season at USU would be a fantastic fit!

Re: Recruiting wish list
We have had a lot of luck with signing under the radar “diamond in the rough” guys over the years. Will Davis is a great example. A great current example is David Woodward. No one recruited that guy but us and he might be a top 5 linebacker in college football next year. Rocquemore and Vaughens are other great examples. I’m not at all saying these guys can’t be great players.BeNo wrote: ↑January 26th, 2019, 7:17 pmLike Will Davis rated recruits?ineptimusprime wrote: ↑January 26th, 2019, 1:35 pmIf we can seal up some of those guys, then ya, I’ll drink that Kool-aid.0AggieUprising50 wrote: ↑January 26th, 2019, 1:34 pmJaylen Warren, Dom Tatum, not one recommit after the coaching change, and being in the lead lead for Ajani Carter and Jojo Hawkins. The proof is in the pudding though that recruiting ratings do correlate pretty strongly with success. A lot of our key contributors last season were 3-star guys: Love, Thompson, Bright, Scarver, Jalen Greene, DJ Williams, etc. I will cheer for anyone that chooses to wear the Aggie uniform, but it’s certainly a lot more exciting to snag a 3-star guy with offers from other schools that is more likely to be a key contributor.
The WR position is the biggest mystery to me right now.

Re: Recruiting wish list
I'm going to have to agree with Youngblood on this one. Warren, Tatum and Cash Gilliam are really the Signing Day Round 2 commits that initially catch my eye. The two potential grad transfers that have visited weren't exciting in my opinion and with glaring needs at OL and WR, I just can't grasp why we continue to take make offers to, and take commitments from defensive backs. And yet there are a couple of defensive backs that we are still in the hunt for, that I hope we land! So I guess I've just bought into the madness and am waiting to see what the approach is going to be. I think it's clear we are going to end up signing more than 25 kids this year.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑January 26th, 2019, 1:29 pmYoungBloodAggie wrote: ↑January 26th, 2019, 1:27 pmIf you haven’t been paying attention, sure.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑January 26th, 2019, 1:23 pmTo date, our pre-Gary recruiting was objectively better. Kaleo actually reminds me a lot of Pita Taumoepenu coming out of high school. Coincidentally both kids went to Timpview. We offered Pita late in the process and likely would have landed him but Utah jumped in at the last minute and secured his LOI.

You know what they say about great minds...... Hopefully we can hold on to him as well. Also, with 4 senior defensive ends, it think it's imperative to bring in his brother Kahi because he will only be a sophomore in 2019. Matt and company made a living off these sophomore JuCo transfers.slcagg wrote: ↑January 27th, 2019, 7:38 amThat’s the first comparison that I thought of as well. Re: Recruiting wish list
Hussey committed. Guessing he is a mission guy. However he seems like the type of player that will be productive enough to receive a scholarship at some point. Last east Idaho kid we signed has been pretty good.
