Signing Day Event

Post by slcagg » February 6th, 2019, 7:09 pm

Anyone in attendance care to share any details from either event? I haven’t seen a link for these?

Couple of things that I've seen on Twitter. Cooper Legas was offered by an SEC team last night but stuck with us. And we're switching to a 4 man front this yr on the D-line, personnel will dictate this so it may change from yr to yr.

Expecting up to 3 grad transfers in the near future. One at RB and I think he said one at WR.

Burt at RB, Mariner at WR, and Repp at TE.

Another interesting item from the signing day event was who Coach A said we didn't sign and why.

We lost 4 out of 5 starting OLs. You would think we would be looking to supplement with JC players. He said that after evaluating the lineman in the program already they felt they had what they needed, so they hit the HS ranks for lineman.

He mentioned the same thing at WR. Losing about 80% of our receiving yards from last year you would think we would need to supplement heavily from the JC ranks, but the staff felt that they already had the talent in the program and so hit the HS ranks for a couple of guys. In addition Coach A said to watch out for that receiving group next year. He expects them to be special.

For me, I saw this as a good sign of where the program sits and the state Wells left us in. This allowed us to have this class focus on long-term needs rather than just filling gaps. The one exception, I think is at RB...as you can see with a JC guy and a Grad xfer. I hope they are right, but this has me feeling optimistic about next year on signing day, not just the future of this class.

Just curious, did it say which SEC team offered him?

Hartwell was very happy with the turnout, especially with so much snow that came down. He said there was close to 80 there which was over double from last years SLC event.
I had a great time. Fun to see old Aggie friends.

A really good vid:

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I meant to point that out yesterday. My guess is there was a slide for Griffin before Legas and they removed it from the video at the last minute but then deleted the audio for Legas and left the audio for Griffin by accident.

A nice little Easter egg to verify Griffins status though.
