New LA Bowl
Is essentially replacing the Vegas bowl for the MWC starting in 2020:
"The new Los Angeles Bowl at Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park
The new LA bowl will feature the Pac-12 against the Mountain West. This is basically the old Las Vegas Bowl matchup with the bowl getting the first selection from the Mountain West against a Pac-12 team. The Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park opens in 2020 and will also host the 2023 College Football Playoff title game. This bowl is huge for the Mountain West, especially after its 19-year tie-in with the Las Vegas Bowl ends after this season."
As a reminder, the Vegas bowl will be PAC 12 vs SEC/BIG 10 after this year.
Also in 2020, Arizona bowl will be MWC v MAC (had been MWC v Sun Belt)
Other bowl changes starting in 2020 discussed here:

Re: New LA Bowl
Proof positive that UNLV and its interests are as irrelevant to Las Vegas as the interests of UTEP to El Paso. Neither the Vegas nor the Sun Bowl will ever again be useful to the future of the home town school.FormerlyVegasAggie71 wrote: ↑March 5th, 2019, 12:37 pmIs essentially replacing the Vegas bowl for the MWC starting in 2020:

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Re: New LA Bowl
I KNEW IT WOULD HAPPEN! LV is cold in the early winter time Brrrrrr (I realize their stadium is now indoors but still)
LA? NOT SO MUCH!
Also, I'm perplexed by the Arizona bowl tie-ins, don't we already have a MWC/MAC tie in for the Boazy Bowl?

I still can't for the life of me figure out why there isn't at least one MWC vs. AAC bowl. Maybe I'm oversimplifying here, but my bet is they are trying to stay away from us so they can do their best to live in the "P6" La La Land they've created for themselves

Re: New LA Bowl
Not a bad replacement for the Las Vegas Bowl, especially when you consider that there is likely to be a second Las Vegas bowl game in the near future that could almost definitely host a MWC v. AAC game.

Tater Bowl is now a thing and it's done in a MWC host City. So...CaptainChaos wrote: ↑March 5th, 2019, 2:49 pmThats great and all, but wouldnt it be so much better to keep the LV bowl and drop the tater bowl

Re: New LA Bowl
I love this. I think LA is a much bigger draw for our fanbase than LV even tho it’s further away. Compare crowds for the WAC/MW tourneys in Vegas with the BW tourneys in Anaheim.

Re: New LA Bowl
I love this new bowl...a trip to LA to see the Aggies coupled with the other tourist options that are there make it a much more justifiable trip to the wife than just a bowl game in Vegas.

Re: New LA Bowl
I liked the Vegas Bowl for obvious reasons. Nice to have a bowl in California again though. We need another San Diego type bowl as well.
Re: New LA Bowl
Agree, funny thing is they have tie ins with MAC, SBC and C-USA.CanuckAggie wrote:I still can't for the life of me figure out why there isn't at least one MWC vs. AAC bowl. Re: New LA Bowl
Also you can fly to So-Cal for cheaper from SLC than you can to Vegas. Allegence from provo to LA is super cheap (its the only way we get to Utah anymore).

Re: New LA Bowl
Can't there be 2 bowl games in LV? I propose we have a bowl match-up between MWC and AAC in LV at Sam Boyd and then they just add a second bowl for Pac-12 vs B10/SEC in the new stadium. I imagine the P12 vs B10/SEC bowl will likely move to a later date as the big schools all like to play closer to New Years. We can just keep our bowl on the typical early date. LV has already shown they can host like 13 basketball conference tournaments in that city, why not two bowl games that are a week apart and in two different stadiums? Getting tickets to LV from most places in the country is relatively inexpensive.

Re: New LA Bowl
The city could definitely see a new bowl game and I'd love to see it against the AAC. I don't think that Sam Boyd will be around anymore though. UNLV is moving to Raider Stadium.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑March 7th, 2019, 2:52 pmCan't there be 2 bowl games in LV? Re: New LA Bowl
I could also see Vegas becoming the home for MWC championship game if they want to move it to a neutral site. Technically, it wouldn't be neutral if UNLV is playing in it...but that's never going to happen, lol.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑March 7th, 2019, 3:01 pmThe city could definitely see a new bowl game and I'd love to see it against the AAC.
