"Man, I could have helped them to a top 5 finish?" Good riddance. We are winners now.

Man, if he was here and as bought in as the rest of the team, this could've been a legit 4 or 5-seed in the NCAA Tourney.

Probably thinking good for them. Also probably happy to be on the #16 team in the country.
Can we all just stop obsessing over Koby?

Re: So what exactly is Koby McEwen thinking right now....?
I wouldn't say completely false. We had two bad years with Koby as our first or second option, he leaves and we win the Mountain West in the first year without him. Not saying we wouldn't have had the same success with him, but It is up for debate and we'll never know. Just because he was talented doesn't mean it is automatic he would have bought into Coach Smith, gelled with this team, and played as hard every possession like this team did.

Just won the MWC title and we're obsessing about a former player?

I hate it when the subject line of threads isn’t very clear. I clicked on this thread with complete confidence it was going to be a discussion about our win over Colorado State. In fact I even avoided the thread with the subject line about being MWC champions because I thought this one would be even more of a celebration of our victory, but it turns out that it was actually about a previous player. You guys trick me every time.Aggieiester wrote: ↑March 5th, 2019, 11:11 pmJust won the MWC title and we're obsessing about a former player?

Inexplicable. For the life of me, I cannot understand the need to pile on this guy at every opportunity. Get over it. Good hell. It’s embarrassing.Aggieiester wrote: ↑March 5th, 2019, 11:11 pmJust won the MWC title and we're obsessing about a former player?

Oh ok. You’re right. Nothing else changed except for Koby leaving. So it stands to reason, he was the problem.

If Koby would have bought in we’re not losing those early season games. If Koby didn’t buy in it would’ve been worse.
And nobody is obsessing, first Koby post of 2019 I believe.

What's Koby thinking? "Redshirting sucks. I'm tired of sitting every game, I can't wait until I can play next year."

Koby played exactly how he was coached or allowed to play. That’s on Duryea.

DER-ee-ae
He was on the courtside last year with the Aggies. He walked around a bit but didn't do or say much.

Re: So what exactly is Koby McEwen thinking right now....?
I didn't say it was a lock, I said it was a possibility. Just because he was a good player, it isn't a lock that he would have gelled with this team and bought into what Coach Smith wanted. There are many great players who don't make teams better or aren't good fits on certain teams. I could list a bunch of NBA players over the last 20 years that would fit this description.2004AG wrote: ↑March 6th, 2019, 6:52 amAggie formerly in Hawaii wrote:I wouldn't say completely false. Re: So what exactly is Koby McEwen thinking right now....?
ASU and Houston would have been tough games even with Koby being all in, but I agree with your main point. We'll never know what Koby would have meant to this team, I wouldn't say it is a lock either way that we would have been better or worse.TheAKAggie wrote: ↑March 6th, 2019, 7:16 amIf Koby would have bought in we’re not losing those early season games. Re: So what exactly is Koby McEwen thinking right now....?
Is anyone "piling on"? Koby left USU for Marquette. He isn't like some players who got cycled out and ended up at Bo Diddly Tech. He was a big time recruit for USU and left USU for a nationally ranked team that will be a top 4 seed in the tournament.bluegrouse wrote: ↑March 5th, 2019, 11:42 pmInexplicable. There is no answer, but it is a fair topic. I also wouldn't call one thread about Koby "obsessing."

Re: So what exactly is Koby McEwen thinking right now....?
Comes up over and over and over. How many times do we have to debate whether he was selfish or would have helped or hurt this team? No one knows. He’s been gone a year. Just let it go already. Move on.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote: ↑March 6th, 2019, 11:16 pmIs anyone "piling on"? Koby left USU for Marquette. He isn't like some players who got cycled out and ended up at Bo Diddly Tech. Re: So what exactly is Koby McEwen thinking right now....?
Fair enough. It does feel like more of an offseason topic. However talking about old players and old coaches and the question of "what if?" does seem like standard message board discussion.bluegrouse wrote: ↑March 7th, 2019, 12:58 amComes up over and over and over. When Koby was on the team, we played .500 ball. When he wasn't, we won the MWC. Pretty simple math there. We could have used him as a sixth man instead of Brown, though.

Well anything is a possibility. My theory is this, and hear me out, let’s get all the 4* kids we can who are really talented, bring them in, let them play for a really good coach, not Tim Duryea, and I’ll take my chances.Aggie formerly in Hawaii wrote:I didn't say it was a lock, I said it was a possibility. Don't put the blame squarely on Koby for the poor performances over the previous two years. That should go to Duryea. He just wasn't a good head coach. We now know what a good head coach looks like.

I think it made a bigger difference that we DO have Neemias Queta like we didn't last year.
