Sedrick Hammonds
I noticed that the crystal ball projection gives him a 67% chance of coming to USU. Yet there is no indication he is still being recruited by us, which is odd. He would be a perfect athletic point guard to break the press and add some pizazz to the back court. It would allow Brito to slide over to the more natural off guard position. Does anyone know what the recruiting status of this student-athlete currently is?

Re: Sedrick Hammonds
Sedrick Hammonds does NOT have an offer from us currently. I believe we do have an interest in him BUT from what I understand, Sedrick still has some academic work to finish before gaining eligibility. The only spring signing period offer that we have extended was accepted by Sean Bairstow.bullshot wrote: ↑March 15th, 2019, 1:00 pmI noticed that the crystal ball projection gives him a 67% chance of coming to USU. So... potentially another JK3 situation?aggies22 wrote: ↑March 15th, 2019, 1:39 pmSedrick Hammonds does NOT have an offer from us currently. Re: Sedrick Hammonds
No and here's why. If we chose to sign Sedrick, Sedrick won't be allowed to enroll at Utah State until he is academically eligible. JK3 WAS academically eligible when he GOT to Utah State, he just wasn't academically eligible when he LEFT Utah State. JK3 COULD have stayed at Utah State, sat out the remainder of the 2018-19 season, worked hard in school, regained his academic eligibility and continued playing at Utah State in 2019-20.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑March 15th, 2019, 2:46 pmSo... potentially another JK3 situation?aggies22 wrote: ↑March 15th, 2019, 1:39 pmSedrick Hammonds does NOT have an offer from us currently. Wow would be excited about this kid. 22-Do you know the likelihood of him becoming eligible?

Re: Sedrick Hammonds
While I don't have information about the exact reason in regards to his academic issues, my strong suspicion is there might be ACT/SAT score issues. That's usually the sticking point. It could be that he just hasn't even taken either test yet.

Re: Sedrick Hammonds
I learned on the Doug Gottleib Show (I think) from his guest Kevin Garrnett would ask Mason Plumlee what the tournamnet was like and WANTED to go to college but couldn’t get a good SAT score so he went pro instead. He wanted that college, march madness experience.

I remember hearing a very similar story about Kevin Garnett.TheAKAggie wrote: ↑March 15th, 2019, 5:23 pmI learned on the Doug Gottleib Show (I think) from his guest Kevin Garrnett would ask Mason Plumlee what the tournamnet was like and WANTED to go to college but couldn’t get a good SAT score so he went pro instead. Re: Sedrick Hammonds
Yes. He was not academically eligible. I believe Silas Mills is still on staff there BUT I would be surprised if we placed him there. Typically if a school is going to "stash" a player somewhere they will place the kid at a much lower profile school than SLCC. They are usually in the NJCAA national championship hunt each year and the better players get a lot of recruiting attention.

We stashed a couple there under Stew, IIRC. Bendall comes to mind.aggies22 wrote: ↑July 6th, 2019, 7:11 pmYes. He was not academically eligible. Re: Sedrick Hammonds
Which is true, we also got Gary Wilkinson from there BUT SLCC has become a much better program in recent history. Also, recruiting in general has become a much larger animal overall.lcrasmus wrote: ↑July 6th, 2019, 9:01 pmWe stashed a couple there under Stew, IIRC. SLCC won the national juco championship when Bendall was there. Nice that they've gotten much better than that!aggies22 wrote: ↑July 6th, 2019, 10:14 pmWhich is true, we also got Gary Wilkinson from there BUT SLCC has become a much better program in recent history. Re: Sedrick Hammonds
While it is true that they won a national title during Bendall's sophomore year there in 2009. The Bruins did not win another Region 18 title until 2015 and have now won two of the last 4 and will be very good again this season.OKAggie wrote: ↑July 7th, 2019, 7:17 amSLCC won the national juco championship when Bendall was there.
