We need to beat WA just to shove
It up David Locke’s rear. Last time we played wa, lock was a dick about the Aggies. He called out David pak and was terrible about his law problems. I called him on it via email and he was still a dick. Then we play poor and lose. Still ticks me off.

David Locke the radio commentator for the Jazz...I like the way he calls the Jazz games he's a sharp dude on all of his stats an analysis...just comes off as an uberdouche

Re: We need to beat WA just to shove
The barrister of the labor party I assume.
But if he's talking about David Locke with an E at the end, he's talking about a former sports-radio guy and current play-by-play guy for the Jazz. Year's ago Locke got sideways with Stew in a radio interview regarding Stew's insistence of only playing home-and-home. Seems like Locke's had it out against USU Basketball ever since. He also hates college basketball in general - so...

Got it. I remember he and Stew having an awkward interview. I never did like that guy.

Though to be fair, if Pak had been a zoob or newmag, we would have had an absolute field day criticizing him/them. It's OK to admit it.WAAggie wrote:Sorry for the misspell. He did some time up here in WA on radio and his rant on Pak was out of line.

Locke is the worst play by play announcer ever! Listening to the jazz in the car you have no clue what is happening because he spends most the time belittling Ron Boone and telling everybody how smart he is instead of calling the game. He is also the most conceited person alive!

We typically aren't nice to people with a record. It's ok. I'll admit it... it's all apart of the Spectrum Magic, and I like it.

I don't listen to Locke nor the Jazz broadcasts. I remember how conceited he was many years ago. Not my kind of guy.

Locke has one of the most grating, annoying voices ever. He is pretty good with stats and stuff though.
And yes, he hates college basketball.

Re: We need to beat WA just to shove
I was not a fan of bringing Pak here at all. What he did was despicable, but the kid did his time and hit a chance he probably didn't deserve. On Sen I or night I stood and cheered for a young man that would earn a college degree, got married, and have the opportunity to help others improve their lives and learn from their mistakes.
Locke can shove it. I'd take 10 David Pak's on our team. What could have been a life wasted was turned into an opportunity. Does anyone know what Pak is up to these days?

I didn't have a problem giving Pak a second chance. I just didn't think he was a very good PG.

I don't mind Locke's podcast because I like the focus on stats, but it drives me a bit crazy how regularly you can hear him sucking up snot and swallowing it. Pretty disgusting. Never listened to him do radio play-by-play so I have zero opinion on that, and I have no thoughts about whether he is conceited.

That's fair, but if he had been a BYU player the SLC media would've found a way to spin it into a positive for the school and promoted the daylights out of it.Mr. Sneelock wrote:Though to be fair, if Pak had been a zoob or newmag, we would have had an absolute field day criticizing him/them. There would've been a story come out how he addressed the team to discuss his past and how it culminated in a glorious slow-clap for their hero.

Re: We need to beat WA just to shove
I can't stand to listen to him. His emotion comes across as forced and contrived. I don't mind some statistical analysis, but he shares his stats and metrics at the expense of telling the listeners what's actually occurring on the court. He's my least favorite. I'd rather listen to Wrubell (sp?) than Locke. Locke is the worst who's certain he's the best.stewusu98 wrote: ↑March 19th, 2019, 2:59 pmLocke is the worst play by play announcer ever! Lock was interviewing Stew and he kept asking him about scheduling and wouldn't get over himself. Stew asked him to move on and Lock kept asking the same thing. Stew finally had enough and told him if he asked again the interview would be over. Lock's ego couldn't leave it alone so Stew hung up.

Works in Vegas as a party planner from what his Facebook profile says. If memory serves me well, he got divorced while at school from his wife on the women's team.

Looks like he is still single and out of BB. Did turn his life around, but as was noted, wasn't my favorite guard to watch.

Locke's Jazz podcast is great. His play by play makes me miss Hot Rod. Locke calls basketball like it's a baseball game and he has all kinds of time to shoot the breeze. He's not great at describing what he sees while it's happening.

I like to find local sportstalk stations when I am in other cities. Years ago I was in Seattle and could NOT believe my ears when I found myself listening to David Locke. They probably ran him out of town.

Pak got some really funny ribbing at SJS. He wore uniform number 2, one of the SJS students said wait a minute "2-Pak"? We all started chuckling. Then Pak dove into the first row for a loose ball and the student who he landed on yelled "he smells like alcohol!" It was just funny not mean spirited.

Re: We need to beat WA just to shove
Locke was trying to make the point that he thought Stew's offense was so good that they would win some of the buy games if Stew would schedule. Stew didn't like to talk about anything schedule related and wasn't interested in hearing Locke's take since it was related to scheduling. I remember listening to the interview and Locke's confusion afterward since he was trying to be very complementary of Stew's system. Stew had his philosophy on scheduling, which was fine, but it kept some teams out of the tournament and meant lower seeds for the teams that got in.dyedblue wrote: ↑March 19th, 2019, 8:36 pmLock was interviewing Stew and he kept asking him about scheduling and wouldn't get over himself. Even after the Sonics left he was calling the Storm games. He left Seattle because the Jazz hired him to be Hot Rod's replacement.aggies22 wrote: ↑March 20th, 2019, 7:39 amI like to find local sportstalk stations when I am in other cities. Re: We need to beat WA just to shove
Locke isn't a great play by play guy, but he does know his stats and hoops. And he loves the game and the Jazz.
Wrubell is a huge Homer, which gets annoying, but actually quite good at play by play. You always know what is happening on the field/court.
Al Lewis is a good radio host, but is not good at basketball play by play. He is a bit better with football, but Scott Gerrard is better with both.
The national radio guys generally do a great job. I expect that radio play by play would be really difficult. Hot Rod was the best I ever heard, and certainly an all-time great. Kevin Harlan is among my current favorites that does both radio and TV.
