Jalen McDaniels

Post by Bank Shot » March 27th, 2019, 2:50 pm

Reports are that he has hired an agent and will enter the draft. Wonder if that will effect recruitment of his brother Jaden?

Let's hope not. It's fun to play against future high draft picks.

I don't get it. Reminds of many players who do this, remember that Wyoming QB from years who disappeared after declaring for draft said that it is a bad to declare early.

I thought the new rule allowed you to hire an agent and test the waters but still left the option to come back prior to the draft?

This post is likely straight up poor sarcasm and cannot be taken seriously.

It actually does appear that is the case. In the past you could test the waters without an agent. Now you can hire an agent and as long as you terminate the agreement with your agent after not being drafted you can return.

Here's what I found:

A player who has hired an agent retains his remaining college eligibility regardless of whether he is drafted only after an evaluation from the NBA Undergraduate Advisory Committee. From this draft on, players who declare for the NBA draft and are not selected have the opportunity to return to their school for at least another year after terminating all agreements with their agents.

So...am i reading this right that if they hire an agent, they can only return to school if they are NOT drafted in either round?

Brett Smith. We signed his little brother and he made it 18 months here, transferred to Portland State and made it another 8 months or so.

Most mock drafts I have seen have him going in the first round or early socond round.

I wonder what they’ll think when they see his frail body up against other draft hopefuls. I just don’t think he has overwhelming talent to make up for his lack of size.

Pretty mich the consensus #2 pick is Ja Morant, the PG out of Murray St. His stat sheet says he’s 6’3” and weighs 174 lbs. McDaniels is 6’10” and 195 lbs. That’s 2” taller than Gordon Hayward and 10 lbs lighter. They’ll put some weight on McDaniels and he’ll be OK — if he’s got the skill set to stick in the NBA.

I remember when I thought Paul George was going to be a bust because Tai dominated him everytime the went up against each other. Crazy how some guys get better when they go to the NBA. It will be interesting to see how McDaniels does. My guess would be decent roll player off the bench. Then again I didn’t think Paul George would last 2 years in the NBA.

If McDaniels is 6’10” on his official draft measurements i’ll take a 3 month posting hiatus from from the board. I highly doubt he’s 195lbs with that stork-like body of his but since that’s easier to manipulate. He’ll be an early 2nd rounder at best.

[I remember this as well. We beat Fresno by like 30 at home and George got dominated. Based on that you would think he would not be successful in the NBA, obviously the 2 do not correlate. Not saying McDaniel's will be good in the NBA, but just can't judge him until he gets to the NBA.]

A looooong time ago there was this short, skinny white kid out of Gonzaga that, when you saw him play you knew he had no chance at the NBA. What wasn't realized is that he was fearless and tough as nails.

I watched Lillard all through college and he was good. I knew he was NBA good, but wow. Just wow, it's he ever good.

Granted the only time I saw McDaniels is when he played USU, but he didn't impress me. But by that measure, Paul George didn't impress me either. So...
