Salt Lake Stallions
So the AAF (Alliance of American football) team in slc unveiled its name and logo today. Not too bad. Thank goodness it's not the pioneers or the Saints.
Former aggies on the roster include:
Will Davis, DB
David Moala, DT
Anthony Williams, LB

Re: Salt Lake Stallions
I think they missed the target with the logo and name. Imagine if they were the Pioneers: cheerleaders in prairie dresses, vendors pushing hand carts selling drinks, blue turf in the middle of the field, end zone padding could be shaped like piles of dead Indians or other pioneers. Really dropped the ball.

But the saints could be all white everything. Unis, turf, fans. An angel moroni on the helmet. Perfect.TheAKAggie wrote:I think they missed the target with the logo and name. For the "inspiration" they say slc and horses have a long history. Both animal and auto. Claiming the logo is replicating the hood ornaments that raced across the salt flats....

This is by far my favorite post today. Maybe they can have dead brine flies everywhere in the blue turf.TheAKAggie wrote: ↑September 25th, 2018, 12:57 pmI think they missed the target with the logo and name. Re: Salt Lake Stallions
Doesn’t surprise me that they went under. I thought they’d at least make it through the “playoffs” and the full season.

Re: Salt Lake Stallions
Looks like they died cause the new owner just wanted the rights to their betting app. Rumor has it that there was money to finish the year but he didn't want the headache. He played chicken with the NFL and it was like a chicken on the train tracks. The train hardly noticed and didn't slow at all. The chicken jumped away early.

Re: Salt Lake Stallions
The NFL should have got behind this. We have minor league hockey that does extremely well, baseball too. I just don't get why not off-season minor league football?

Re: Salt Lake Stallions
Good points about college FB, but the semi-pro football we had was off-season, which also made sense.

Re: Salt Lake Stallions
Could players realistically play 2 seasons in the same year? That seems like a lot to ask of a human body

Re: Salt Lake Stallions
Vince McMahon is bringing the XFL back, and providing deeper financial pockets than the AAF had. Will be interesting to see if he succeeds this time around. Makes one appreciate how the CFL has survived so long.

Re: Salt Lake Stallions
There is a 30 for 30 about the XFL that's pretty interesting for football dorks like myself. Vince talks about where he felt he went wrong and what he'd do different if he had a second chance.AGGIEinIOWA wrote: ↑April 4th, 2019, 12:06 pmVince McMahon is bringing the XFL back, and providing deeper financial pockets than the AAF had. Re: Salt Lake Stallions
Even with college football, it is interesting with how popular the sport of football is that all of these minor leagues fail and usually fail quickly. I read an article that said San Antonio has had 13 different "former" football franchises now with the AAF failing. I don't know if Vince McMahon can truly learn to fix the problem when the problem is America just has no interest in minor league football.

Their website and online store are still up. I'm tempted to buy a replica jersey, just for the eventual historical interest.
