Love's Last Year?

Post by tinplater » April 17th, 2019, 8:35 am

Having a hard time adjusting to the reality that players leave early. Any indication Jordan will stay for his senior year?

If he has a big year as he did in 2018, I think he'll go.

I think a will depend on the depth of the draft. Right now the 2019 quarterback draft is looking fairly strong. and could get very strong if Lawrence & Tua both leave early. Add in Jacob Froam. This draft could be stacked at QB and if it is that would mean the 2020 draft would be extremely thin.

I'm sure that will play a role in his decision making

Having said that I think this is his last year at USU.

Great point! With so many QB's that would probably be given top billing regardless of how Jordan does in 2019. Waiting until the 2021 draft might really be his payday.

Wasn't there a rumor last year that he was transferring? I hate these speculative rumors.

I don't feel that this is a rumor starting. The original poster is just a fan that wonders what it will take for Jordan to leave early. It's a double-edged sword having players good enough to leave early for the draft. If we're going to have a legitimate discussion about the topic we should probably throw David Woodward into the conversation. He might be a more likely candidate than Jordan Love.

I have it from a pretty reliable source that David intends to graduate after this season and bounce to the nfl. Can’t blame him especially if he has another year like last year.

I never have a problem with guys leaving early. If you can get paid, go for it. Guys like Turbin have made more money in 6-7 years than they otherwise would in their entire life.

it's pretty selfish on their part to go seek success and money instead of stay here and entertain me with good football for another year or so. kids these days can be so self-centered.

I would be very surprised if Jake Fromm leaves after his junior year.

If Love and Woodward have similar years to last year... they're going.

The QB position is ALWAYS at a premium. If Love has a similiar or better year as last year, he has all the intangibles and skills to be a 1st round QB. Woodward was a top 3 LB rated by PFF last year. And to think, I was told after Love's freshman year that he wasn't a D1 caliber QB.

I would argue that Love is just as good, if not better, than most on that list.

The very premise of this thread is "getting ahead of ourselves" and discussing if Love is gone for his senior year provided he has a good 2019.

I hope that Love is gone after next year. That would most likely mean that we have an amazing season in 2019. I wouldn't mind that trade.

Seems like we are gaining some great depth at that position as well.

If Love leaves after his redshirt Junior year then it won't bother me at all. He'll most likely have a degree and just about done all he can to prove his worth to NFL teams.

I don't think it will ever bother me if and when a player decides to leave. To each their own.

Indeed, since Love was only playing three quarters of most games last year, Columbi getting some valuable reps., showing himself competent.

FWIW Josh Allen was drafted 7th overall after finishing 8-5 with the pokes in 2017.

I think Love is a great Q.B.Just remember that the numbers last came against some very weak teams, this years schedule is more difficult. I can not see a 11 win season. If we do win 11 this season he belongs in the NFL.

This is true. For comparison sake, Josh Allen did not have great numbers his senior year (or really ever)

2017-18 Wyoming 11 270 152 1812 6 16 22 127.8

Love last year

267 Comp 417 att 64.0 comp% 3,567yards 8.6 ypa 32TD 6INT 88LNG 158.3rtg

Love lost a lot of skill players and his entire starting OL, but I still think we can expect a 30 TD 3,000 yard passing season out of him. I think the big difference you'll see this year is more consistency. Last year he played quite poorly against CSU and Wyo. Some of that could've been the knee injury he was rumored to have. I think you see one less performance like that. He also didn't throw that well against North Texas or Boise either but still had over 300 yds in both outings.

I think I'm just going to enjoy this year to the maximum that I can without worrying what Jordan will do. If he goes, we have people behind him ready to step in, and more on the way. You always hope they stay but it just depends on the kid and how mature they really are, and what their personal needs and wants are. Loyalty to the school is no longer a factor.

I'm really excited about Cooper Legas.

Everything I've seen and read is that he as "it."

I don't want to get ahead of myself but this kid could be really special.
