LSU AD Stepping down
Is there a possibility they go after Hartwell? He's from the south and has a great track record of hiring good coaches at Troy and USU. He's also good at raising money. Two things that are a top priority for a big time program. Thoughts?

Maybe if they don't get Scott Woodward they look at Hartwell.

Looks like they are hiring Woodward. Now Texas a&m is open.Intermeddler wrote: ↑April 17th, 2019, 12:54 pmMaybe if they don't get Scott Woodward they look at Hartwell.

Nonsense. Hartwell is happy here. He will never leave. Like Stew. And Gary.Madmartigan wrote: ↑April 18th, 2019, 1:45 pmHartwell is likely to put his hat in the ring for the TAMU gig.

Yeah, Hartwell has never shown any indications of being interested in SEC AD jobs. Good call. He is staying forever.flying_scotsman2.0 wrote: ↑April 18th, 2019, 1:49 pmNonsense. Question for more regular posters- What percentage of Tier I job opening draw someone on this board to speculate that someone from USU must or might be a target?
I really appreciated Smith’s comments on this. You can’t plan on it or obsess about what could happen. He’s got to work for the moment and as fans we ought to enjoy what we have and not worry to the extent that the collective board seems to do. Also for what it’s worth, as a Texas resident there’s no way Hartwell is even on the radar. TAMI is a top 2 revenue generator in Football and there is no way that a guy with Hartwell’s inexperience with licensing and capital improvement projects the scale that TAMU has to produce to stay competitive in the Texas and SEC arms races would make sense.

Is he willing to cheat? That has to be a job requirement.

Don't laugh. SEC stands for either Southeastern Conference, or "So, Everybody Cheats?" Because as we all know in big time college sports, "If you're not cheating, you're not trying."aceofspadeskb wrote: ↑April 18th, 2019, 8:41 pmIs he willing to cheat? That has to be a job requirement.

Re: LSU AD Stepping down
The nature of message boards is that we speculate and worry about things. Hartwell wants an SEC job, TAMU is an SEC job. Seems logical to think he'd be interested. All of us are enjoying the ride, but the very purpose of a sports message board is to speculate and discuss things that could happen to affect our team that hasn't. I don't understand why it matters if we as fans "worry" or not.cbingham wrote: ↑April 18th, 2019, 7:55 pmGeorgiaAggie wrote: ↑April 17th, 2019, 12:50 pmIs there a possibility they go after Hartwell? As an aside Hartwell might be the best AD we've ever had at USU and I'm really grateful he's here.

I'd heard it as "Someone's Eternally Cheating", but the thought remains.....AggiesForever wrote: ↑April 20th, 2019, 11:15 amDon't laugh. Are we pretending like Utah State doesn’t cheat? Obviously not on the same level with money, but we cheat. Everyone does.aceofspadeskb wrote:Is he willing to cheat? That has to be a job requirement.

Do you have evidence or just a very pessimistic view of college athletics?BleedAggieBlue0 wrote:Are we pretending like Utah State doesn’t cheat? Obviously not on the same level with money, but we cheat. Everyone does.aceofspadeskb wrote:Is he willing to cheat? That has to be a job requirement.

I presonally have faith that things are done by the book at USU. Or at least that every effort is made to ensure that it is.

No, no evidence. I was told by a player that claimed he benefited from a violation. I would say it’s just common sense. It’s like when one fan base talks about other fan bases being less knowledgeable about a sport, that’s just bias.aceofspadeskb wrote:Do you have evidence or just a very pessimistic view of college athletics?BleedAggieBlue0 wrote:Are we pretending like Utah State doesn’t cheat? Not all violations are equal, but every program is knowingly committing some violations (IMO).

Re: LSU AD Stepping down
That would surprise me because a) the good stuff’s expensive and b) most guys who get popped (think of the two Aggies recently) in the NFL are older trying to recover to keep their spots from the young bucks. 18-23 years build muscle and recover like 30 year old ped’s naturally.Blitz79 wrote:I believe it. Also without any evidence, I think that many(most) football players use some type of PED's. Pro and college.

Re: LSU AD Stepping down
Good points... I'm just always surprised that we assume that USU personnel are targets / qualified for so many jobs. I'd be shocked if a program as big and well capitalized as TAMU can't pull someone bigger and with more experience than Hartwell.Madmartigan wrote: ↑April 20th, 2019, 4:32 pmThe nature of message boards is that we speculate and worry about things. As a Freshmen I found myself very impressed by Abu Wilson's Corvette. Granted it was a couple of years old but still impressive. Also, a great article from a couple years ago that I saw posted on a University of Texas board that I follow...aceofspadeskb wrote: ↑April 21st, 2019, 2:53 pmDo you have evidence or just a very pessimistic view of college athletics?BleedAggieBlue0 wrote:Are we pretending like Utah State doesn’t cheat? A question for the philosophers: if everyone is cheating, is it actually cheating?BleedAggieBlue0 wrote: ↑April 21st, 2019, 2:03 pmAre we pretending like Utah State doesn’t cheat? Re: LSU AD Stepping down
I've personally asked Godfrey about it and he said that teams cheat all the way down to waterfall (FCS, D2, etc.) There's not a school out there that he would be surprised to hear that they pay their players. Its all about how much and if they get caught.cbingham wrote: ↑April 21st, 2019, 6:06 pmAs a Freshmen I found myself very impressed by Abu Wilson's Corvette.
