2020 potential draft picks
Not a high number of draft picks from USU this year. Next year will be better. Here are my guesses for guys that will be drafted and where:
Jordan Love: Rounds 1-2
David Woodward: Rounds 2-3
Tipa Galeai: Rounds 2-4
DJ Williams: Rounds 4-6
Dominik Eberle: Rounds 6-7
Who am I missing?

Nice list. I’ll be shocked if DJ Williams ever gets drafted though. It seems teams were targeting and picking on him at corner all last year.

Re: 2020 potential draft picks
I think Love goes in the first two rounds if he has. Similar season this year to last- even if he doesn’t you can’t ignore the measurables and arm talent. I’d be surprised if Edwards was a first two round guy but I don’t have a great eye for OL talent. Maybe 22 can provide some insight here.

I saw the opposite. Imo, if he keeps grinding I could see him get drafted. He was our best corner last year. He’s also a football junky and a work horse.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑April 28th, 2019, 2:46 pmNice list. I’ll be shocked if DJ Williams ever gets drafted though. Re: 2020 potential draft picks
PFF has him rated as our best corner and one of the best in the MW. I like DJ Williams. He had 4 INTS last year.Elkaggie wrote: ↑April 28th, 2019, 3:50 pmI saw the opposite. Re: 2020 potential draft picks
Williams was a big play guy who was often out of position but also made a lot of great plays. I think he's posed for a big year.

Bright has the top end speed and receiving ability to, at worst, be a good third down back.

Re: 2020 potential draft picks
Tipi will be the first Aggie picked and I'll say 3-4 round if his weight/strength improves this season and he puts up good combine numbers.Madmartigan wrote: ↑April 28th, 2019, 11:14 amNot a high number of draft picks from USU this year. Love is a hard one to guess. Right now, I'd say he's a potential 4-5 round pick but could go higher or even go undrafted (Brett Rypien) based on his development/performance this season. I think his stock rises with our new OC and pro style offense. He has pro arm talent, does he have the intangibles?
Williams will go 5-6 round unless he runs a 4.4 or lower 40, then he goes in 4-5
Woodward 6-7 round unless he's a top tackler again and he put's up legit combine numbers then he could go 4-5
Eberle goes undrafted and signs with Raiders

Re: 2020 potential draft picks
A bit too optimistic, which is totally appropriate given that we’re all fans. I’d bet Love goes 2nd. Woodward 3, Tip 4 or 5 given age and weight. Given Bucs are one of few teams dumb enough to draft a kicker and they got one this year I’d bet Eberle isn’t drafted but has a good shot to make a team. Overall will still be one of the better draft years for the Ags!Madmartigan wrote: ↑April 28th, 2019, 11:14 amNot a high number of draft picks from USU this year. Next year will be better. Re: 2020 potential draft picks
I think Love will be taken first and will be a 1-2nd round draft pick. Ideal size, quick release, and he can make all the throws. He has good enough mobility and has stayed healthy throughout his career.El Sapo wrote: ↑May 10th, 2019, 9:40 amTipi will be the first Aggie picked and I'll say 3-4 round if his weight/strength improves this season and he puts up good combine numbers.Madmartigan wrote: ↑April 28th, 2019, 11:14 amNot a high number of draft picks from USU this year. I recommend watching a little closer next time. The Wake game was evidence of what I saw was going on last season.Elkaggie wrote: ↑April 28th, 2019, 3:50 pmI saw the opposite. Re: 2020 potential draft picks
I was probably in between the two of you on Williams but he was truly awful against WF. I wonder how much playing with a 21+ point lead for most of games last year covered up some of the issues in our secondary that were there all along and then exacerbated by losing some veterans off last year's roster.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 8:10 amI recommend watching a little closer next time. Re: 2020 potential draft picks
We were more aggressive blitzing last year. That also covered up a lot of secondary issues.

Wow talk about wanting to get somebody back here. Bringing back a point discussed 5 months ago. Hey Roy I’m gonna dig through your posts to see if there was something that one game told everyone otherwise.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 8:10 amI recommend watching a little closer next time. Go ahead. You'll see I've been really worried about the secondary the whole time.slcagg wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 11:33 amWow talk about wanting to get somebody back here. This issue has been at the forefront of my mind all off season. This wasn't just 5 months ago. This has been a weekly thought of mine. I watched him get targeted all last year by opposing teams and him really struggle in coverage. Then I see these preseason accolades and a ton of praise coming his way from usu fans as well as nfl draft talk. I was left scratching my head.
The game against Wake just confirmed what I saw the whole time.

I still believe. I think as the year goes on he’ll get better plus that’s likely the toughest assignment he’ll draw all year. Let me know after the season if I’m wrong. Re: 2020 potential draft picks
One: my thought is that we were playing with a 21+ point lead because the opponents didn't have the receivers to stay closer, which might have made our DBs including DJ look better.Intermeddler wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 10:51 am* * *

I wonder how much playing with a 21+ point lead for most of games last year covered up some of the issues in our secondary that were there all along and then exacerbated by losing some veterans off last year's roster.
Two: the end of the WF game reminded me of the end of the CSU game last November, where their tall receiver Williams torched our short DB Williams, in the quick, field-long drive that essentially won the game for them (until it didn't). Same thing last Friday. If there's a technique for DBs who are giving away 6 inches to their opponent, our DBs don't have it down.
Nobody here knows anything.
