Re: Jerry Bovee
I heard his interview on the radio last night and he said something to effect that he anticipates this being his last stop. I don't know much about him, but if he is as good as the reactions on here seem to indicate that could be a good thing for the athletic department.

He has made some very good hires at Weber also had some very poor hires.HomeTown wrote: ↑April 25th, 2019, 9:31 amI heard his interview on the radio last night and he said something to effect that he anticipates this being his last stop. He has done a great job improving facilities at WSU, most of the project were done with private monies. He got a lot of million dollar gifts for facilities. He is a great hire for USU.

Re: Jerry Bovee
USU has debt for the last facilities built. If the stadium was paid for we would bring in 2 million more for the budget, instead of debt payments.89LaytonAg wrote: ↑April 25th, 2019, 10:20 amMaybe they are bringing him in to help raise money for the new basketball arena.

Re: Jerry Bovee
He is very good at raising money and in a lot of ways is like Hartwell. If you are a big donor he will take very good care of you and you will love him. He'll be able to bring in some $$$$ for sure.89LaytonAg wrote:Maybe they are bringing him in to help raise money for the new basketball arena.

Yes he did hire Smith, as well as Jodie Sears, both did not turn out well, however Jay Hill was a great hire.AGinNEIowa wrote: ↑April 25th, 2019, 11:44 amwas he the WS AD who hired John L Smith as HFBC in 2011 for 4 months?
One thing that bothers me is Weber does not get fan support in either sport on the level you would think they should get. They have nearly 10,000 empty seats in a 17,500 seat stadium despite winning and being nationally ranked.

Okay, I'm drawing a blank, his face is so familiar to me, what was his main role while working here the first time?

I’ve known Jerry for nearly 35 years - maybe more. He’s a really good dude with solid people skills and is an Aggie through-and-through. He also happens to have been a high school classmate of one of the greatest Aggies of all time: Kendall Youngblood.

I don't know Bovee as a close friend but I do know he went to Ben Lomond and Youngblood went to Bonneville.FeartheFro wrote:Thought Youngblood went to bonneville?

You’re right. Brain fart on where Youngblood went to HS. Several of my college classmates went to HS with Youngblood, and I was thinking it was the Ben Lomond crowd. I guess it was the Bonneville crowd.dyedblue wrote:I don't know Bovee as a close friend but I do know he went to Ben Lomond and Youngblood went to Bonneville.FeartheFro wrote:Thought Youngblood went to bonneville?
