Whaaaaaaat??? The SID office released incorrect information??ratofallaggies wrote: ↑May 2nd, 2019, 4:05 pmThe AD's release wasn't correct. Tarver is a mini camp guy as well. Yes, that's correct. As I understand things, a free agent contract is an invitation to camp and places a player on the 90-man roster. An invitation to mini-camp is not a contract, and is essentially a (longshot) tryout for a free agent contract (IIRC that's how Dallin Leavitt made the Raiders last year).ratofallaggies wrote: ↑May 2nd, 2019, 8:57 amJust so everyone is aware. Being invited to a Rookie Mini Camp is different than signing with a team. Mini camp is an opportunity to try out for the team over a three day period.
Is that your understanding, both of the distinction and of the status of the Undrafted Eight?

Re: UDFA’s
From the official Browns website: Rocquemore and Wade are tryout invitees, not undrafted free agent signees.
From the Indianapolis Star: the Colts undrafted free agent signees list doesn't include Vaughns, so (also per Tania) looks like he's a tryout invitee.
From a Chiefs' fan site: they introduce Ferguson as a free agent signee but don't mention Andrus, so presumably Roman is a tryout invitee.
Ficklin was announced as a tryout invitee.
Per this Bears reporter's Twitter: Raymond is a free agent signee, and Tarver is a tryout invitee.
So bottom line (assuming the cited sources are correct): Raymond and Ferguson were signed to free agent contracts; Rocquemore, Wade, Vaughns, Andrus, Ficklin and Tarver are tryout invitees. SID got three (Raymond, Ferguson, Ficklin) right out of eight.

Re: UDFA’s
Gaje really put in some work leading up to pro day and performed very well when it mattered the most.

Gaje made a number of big plays for us. If it weren’t for him we get blown out by Michigan State.

Re: UDFA’s
Gaje Ferguson and Roman Andrus are both listed as tryouts for the Chiefs rookie mini camp.

I stand corrected. Official site > fan site. So it appears that only Dax signed a free agent contract -- all our others are tryout invitees only.astroman31 wrote: ↑May 6th, 2019, 7:50 amGaje Ferguson and Roman Andrus are both listed as tryouts for the Chiefs rookie mini camp.

Re: UDFA’s
Probably. Bucs haven’t had minicamp yet so Ficklin’s still a possibility.

Re: UDFA’s
I don't think two players from this last class is all that surprising. We had a bunch of guys that were great college players, but I don't really recall any NFL hype for any of them except for perhaps Rocquemore.

Re: UDFA’s
I mean considering a very small percentage of college players actually go and and the 50 million colleges that have programs, 2, possibly 3 aint too shabby....

Re: UDFA’s
It's interesting how we see 9 guys having a shot at the NFL as some type of disappointment. I bet personally for them all of them would have liked to make a pre-season roster and they may feel disappointed. But they have absolutely nothing to be disappointed about. The guys were on the other side of that Rookie camp invite list are all very good football players.
Simply being invited to camp is an accomplishment and those guys have a ton to be proud of. I'm sure they will go on to do great things. They should feel proud. The coaching staffs and parents should all be proud that an NFL team would even consider them.

That is awesome! Got to be a great feeling to have a chance to play for your hometown team. Just looked and he grew up 20 minutes from the Coliseum!
