Proposed 3-point line change

Looks like the 3-point line may be moved back about 1’-5” for the 2019-20 season...

Also, shot clock only reset to 20 seconds following a missed shot that hits the rim instead of the full 30.

I like these changes. I wish they’d retract the “freedom of movement” rule. Also go to 4 quarters and cut out a media timeout and a timeout for each team to improve the game flow. Lastly, go to 6 fouls before getting DQ’d. You shouldn’t have star players sitting out of games the moment they get 2 fouls in the first half.

College basketball obviously needs to move its 3-point line back, and the NBA also needs to move its 3-point line back a bit... ESPN had a really interesting article on this a few weeks ago with a few ideas for the NBA:
1) Bring the 3-point line back far enough (and keep the line a consistent distance from the basket) to completely eliminate the corner three. I like this one.
2) Let each team choose where their 3-point line will be and how it will look... sort of like in baseball how each team has their own field and tries to stack their lineup in the best way to utilize players who can take advantage of a shallow right field or whatever. Pushing it back super far might be a good strategy for Golden State, Portland, etc., while a team like the Jazz might bring it in a bit. This is an interesting idea, but I prefer #1 above.

I have mixed feeling about #2. I think it makes home court advantage more valuable. It would also make advanced analytics very different so that it can account for the shot distance instead of if its a 2 or 3.
