Was today the beginning of a new signing/commitment period?

Nope. We just happened to get our first two on the same day.

Not a bad pairing to start things off, but we will need a little bit more "oomph" than this to have another recruiting class like last year. We have historically struggled to get early commits, so this is a good sign on that front.

Does he really not throw the ball by holding the laces? Is that normal?

Anyone else watch the JR season highlights for the Duvalko kid? I likey! Seems like he can get the ball out nice and quick, strong arm that can make a lot of different throws, seems to be accurate, decisive decision maker, can throw from within and outside the pocket, nice little fake to freeze the defense, can get the ball into tight spaces, throws to where only the receiver can get it. Of course this is a “highlight” video so it doesn’t tell the whole story but I’m pretty excited about this commit.

Anyone know what he means by the "Rest Easy Baker Boy" part of his tweet? Jordan Love is from Bakersfield so I wonder if that is somehow a connection and that he is now allowed to rest easy.

So well coached. Good feet. Quick release. Nice zip on the ball. Makes good decisions. Hard to believe the kid was only a junior in those clips.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Good catch, 2004. Definitely a strange pic.

I bet he was throwing a screen pass or some other quick throw when this picture was taken. It's not uncommon on a quick screen to see QB's throw the ball without getting their fingers on the laces. Getting it out quickly is more important in those cases than a beautiful spiral.

Afatasi went from a 3 star to a 2 star after his commitment. Always happens to a few of our recruits.

The posture looks really weird, too.

I’m guessing he posed for the picture and maybe the photographer told him to put the laces where they could be seen...?

i've seen a lot of young qb's not using the strings to throw the ball. weird but they do it all the time, not a big deal if they can throw it.

His profile pic on Twitter, (witch is an in game photo) he is also not using laces. It really doesn't matter especially if he has large hands. You can get the same spin out of the ball as long as you can grip it.

Way excited about this commit too. No big deal on the laces; no way to know the context of the picture. I'm curious why he didn't have much PAC12 interest. Any thoughts, 22?

His towel has Baker on it. I’m also guessing it’s someone he knew and is paying tribute to.
When I saw Skyview I thought it was the high school in the Valley until I actually opened the tweet and saw that he’s from Washington. Also the one in the valley is Sky View.
