Heckstall off the team
I've seen a few posts and tweets discussing WR depth and no one has acknowledged that Devin Heckstall is no longer part of the team.
I have confirmed with three separate sources that he is no longer a part of the team. He's still on the official roster, but that's more a matter of it not being updated (you'll note there are other players, like Mariner, who aren't on it yet).
Consider this a follow up to the brouhaha regarding his tweets recently.

Heckstall off the team
Not shocking at all. Hope he can go to Grambling where he will fit in. Nothing but good wishes for him.

Re: Heckstall off the team
Yeah, after his many tweets (and the long thread here viewed nearly 6k times) I would say this seemed expected. Wish the best for him wherever he goes but I think he saw the writing on the wall when it came to his pecking order among the Aggie WR's. With the new arrivals, things didn't get any better for him.

Re: Heckstall off the team
You'd be pissed about everything too if your name was the Mormon version of Hellstall. This is a similar situation to how Sam Logwood (UNM bball player) was almost Sam Longwood (infinitely cooler). But these are things we have to live with.

Re: Heckstall off the team
It's pretty late in the game. But I haven't heard of another WR coming in.

We did bring in Sean Carter late. Maybe the writing was on the wall.

The coaching staff always had intentions of bringing in one more guy and Sean Carter has been on the radar of the new staff since late December.GeorgiaAggie wrote: ↑July 7th, 2019, 1:15 pmWe did bring in Sean Carter late. Maybe the writing was on the wall.

I think we bring one more in. The staff has been looking. Has to be the right guy. Has to be eligible immediately. And has to be able to contribute immediately. I hear we are waiting on summer school grades on a few.

No me and him talked a few weeks ago about this. I had heard a name he checked and the guy was not in contact with usu. But I am hearing we are looking. He has different sources than I do.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑July 7th, 2019, 11:23 pmARE YOU CALLING 22 A LIARMWCFAN12 wrote:I think we bring one more in. The staff has been looking. I just keep hearing we are in the market for the "Right guy". The grades part including a good bit of speculating and reading the tea leaves so to speak.

Since we're speculating, are you thinking grad transfer or JuCo guy?MWCFAN12 wrote: ↑July 7th, 2019, 11:56 pmNo me and him talked a few weeks ago about this. My gut tells me late qualifying grad transfer.. Or a 3 year JC kid... I would think the 2 year JC guys are thin at this point.aggies22 wrote: ↑July 8th, 2019, 6:02 amSince we're speculating, are you thinking grad transfer or JuCo guy?MWCFAN12 wrote: ↑July 7th, 2019, 11:56 pmNo me and him talked a few weeks ago about this. Re: Heckstall off the team
If I had to choose, I'd go with the 3 year JuCo kid. Taking a kid like that kind of became a Matt Wells thing, I don't know if Coach Andersen and the boys will adopt the same philosophy. I do know the JuCo coaches that I've talked to love Stacy Collins!MWCFAN12 wrote: ↑July 8th, 2019, 1:30 pmMy gut tells me late qualifying grad transfer.. Or a 3 year JC kid... I can't say for certain but the coaches that were here with Coach Wells and then became members of Coach Andersen's staff all entertained other job offers before ultimately choosing to remain at Utah State.MWCFAN12 wrote: ↑July 8th, 2019, 1:53 pmWas he offered a job at TT?aggies22 wrote: ↑July 8th, 2019, 1:51 pmI think Stacy is one of those rare guys that truly enjoys coaching here at Utah State.MWCFAN12 wrote: ↑July 8th, 2019, 1:45 pmI hear the same thing. Heckstall is the last guy we need on this team. If a player is miserable where he is, he just stirs the pot of discontent.

Well said! 100% agreed. If you can't be happy playing for a players coach like Coach Andersen then you probably ought to start looking elsewhere.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
