With Tennessee now selling beer and wine. That means more than half the SEC and ACC are doing it.

Should USU have a beer stand ? Would the MT west ever do this. UNLV is in a NFL stadium now. Hawaii is in a city owned stadium. CSU already is doing it.

Feels like this could be here to stay .

I have never been to UNR or NM. Wasn't sure about that. I have been to Hawaii and I think you are right about that one.

Margaritas and basically a full bar were sold at UNLV as of 2 years ago and believe me, I would know.

Anybody with half a brain on here knows it SHOULD happen but will NEVER happen.

Not sure about UNLV football stadium, but Thomas and Mack sells everything, including hard liquor.

It was so nice being able to get a cocktail at the MW Championship game.

I wish we could buy beer at the stadium, but oh well. Just go crazy in the tailgate I guess. Tailgate rules/laws are so weird. The parking lot is just a free for all as far as alcohol is concerned. It's funny.

As long as it doesn’t cause any problems for other fans I couldn’t care less.

There is a law in Utah that alcohol cannot be sold on state schools campuses. Ironically, the only stadium that could sell alcohol in Utah is BYU-VU

UNLV sells beer in their football stadium.

My only concern is about drunk driving. This article showed that in 2013 the NTSB did a study (see
https://www.npr.org/sections/health-sho ... m-drinking).

It showed that 18 percent of people who went to the game as the designated driver had 0.05 BAC or higher. Another 17 percent of the designated drivers were more than 0 but less than 0.02 BAC. Another 6 percent were between 0.02BAC and 0.05BAC. Now, I know that BAC isn't the end-all be-all for determining impairment.

But with 41percent of the people who were the assigned designated driver imbibing and over 18 percent almost assuredly impaired to some degree (above 0.05 which NTSB has been trying to get states to lower the limit to), I would want significantly ramped up enforcement around football games to keep people safe.

I wouldn’t be against it if people knew when to stop. They don’t and someone will get killed by a knucklehead.

Also- I'd be lying if I said that myself and the fellow alums I attend games with don't regularly take our own beverages into the stadium. Our discretion has improved since we were undergrads, but it has honestly never been that hard to accomplish at Romney/Maverik.

I would be all in favor for USU doing it if it brought more revenue. Our concession game is really sad in terms of variety, wait times, and lack of nacho toppings. I don't mind spending more to get a drink at a game, my biggest problem is waiting for 30 minutes and missing valuable game time.

I don’t drink personally but I am all for it.

I don't see booze ever being sold at Maverik Stadium. Not just because of the demographics, but also after the one fraternity member dying a couple of years back from alcohol poisoning, the University has made up their minds to be a dry campus for the extended future.

I thought this once, but I've had a couple times a few years ago where campus police stopped me and politely asked to keep things a little more low-key with the drinks in the lot.

They were totally cool about everything, and I was plenty willing to comply. But I definitely learned there ARE limits on what they'd prefer to allow. I guess I just might be one of the few overly-excited jack***es who actually found those limits!

One of the positive things that selling beer at stadiums does is limit the amount you can have, example is Wyoming they give a wrist band with 4 punch's allowed that is all you can get, also sell's stop at the end of the 3rd quarter. When you have no sells you have little control. At USU fans load up at tailgates because they can not buy anything, also hard liquor gets smuggled in which can be a real problem. With stadium sales you have some control, and employees making sure rules on outside liquor are followed because revenue is lost if they are not the supplier. They charge around $6 - $8 for a draft beer which is much more than what one pay's for store bought. It is the best way to control over consumption.

The most out of control students and fans are the Colorado State Rams.....The worst display of lack of crowd control happened in a game between Utah Utes and CSU in 1994 or 1995, can't remember exactly. Utah was number 9 and Csu was 8 or visa versa. Beer companies with their booths were at the game on the outside of the stadium freely giving their brew to all who wanted it. Beer then was not allowed to be sold in the stadium. The problem was that people were drunk long before the game, so the fans were out of control. I felt sorry for the ushers. At one point in the game the ushers needed help because the students were pushing on a gate close to the field. Next thing we know, several national guard members showed up to help out. I'll tell ya, I've never seen anything like this, and probably won't ever again. I went with my 14 year old son. We were living in Veneareal at the time. I have never witnessed such total lack of crowd control at any event in my life as this was. The Utes at one time during the game had to be pulled off the field and sent into the locker room for safety. I originally went to this game because of both their rankings. During the game I wondered why I came? Utah won barely! But, CSU fans took it upon themselves to go after any Car that had Utah plates. They systematically removed lug nuts from the wheels. My truck was one of the Utah cars. I was lucky I made it to Rawlings where I discovered the problem and had to spend two days until Monday to get some new posts, in arm pit Rawlings, Wyoming. A few days later the TV news reported that over 200 cars with Utah plates had their lug nuts taken off. Some got in a wreck, others like myself had one lug nut left on and luckily made it to a stop then noticed. My front wheel was rattling so bad by the time I got to Rawlings, I don't know how I made that far! My point is that the crowd was so out of control because of too much drinking before the game! I did say hello to a CSU basketball coach at the time that I did not know. He was getting a beer and I said hello as we were going into the stadium. His name was Stew! The ironic thing was that the fans were not allowed to bring beer or alcohol into the stadium. They sure had their fill outside the stadium. The police got a confession out of 20 students about the lug nut gate! How the police found out what they had done I never knew! I just remember that day in Fort Collins was very scary being from Utah. Next time I'll take my plates off when I go to a game. Like a basketball game in Reno! I went to that game because I used to live in Loveland and worked in Fort Collins in 1978! I believe in choice, but it better be responsible choice!
