Re: That is on gary!
The 4th down run when WF was expecting it. Just killed all momentum. We had no chance of getting it and basically assured they would score.

Lol. 100%. These offensive sets where we run it up the gut 3 times feel eerily familiar.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑August 30th, 2019, 9:48 pmYeah I have never seen this happen with Wells.

Re: That is on gary!
Gary goes so ultra conservative every time late in the game and it kills USU.
3 minutes left and usu has the ball and the lead. Usu opts to run the ball up the center 3 straight times and punt. Didn’t even try a creative run! Just handed it off right up the center. The game was over when we did that.

Re: That is on gary!
Not the last series but the one before, ran Warren first 2 plays, then ran him again when everyone at the game and watching on tv knew he was carrying again. He did that earlier too when they were backed up. Warren is a great runner but not when everyone knows he is carrying,Clawson out coached him. Get used to it. He is a great motivator, etc. but a terrible game coach.

Wells was worse tbh. Yost taking over the playcalling saved us last yearJjoey53 wrote: ↑August 30th, 2019, 9:51 pmNot the last series but the one before, ran Warren first 2 plays, then ran him again when everyone at the game and watching on tv knew he was carrying again. Another thing, they better figure out a way to stop tall receivers. Those tall ones from BYU will chew up major yards.

If I hear Gary say players make plays I'll vomit. That's a (I can't express myself without swearing) cop out. He always used to say that when he (I can't express myself without swearing) the bed in his previous stint.

This was a really weird offense to defend. I hate the loss but we have a chance to get better and am expecting we will.

Re: That is on gary!
We had at least 3 drives in the 4th with a 4 point lead where we should've been stepping on their necks and instead we were trying to run out the clock. Reminded me of the BYU game in 2011. I love Gary but man he can get conservative down the stretch.

Re: That is on gary!
Not sure why Gary was aggressive early and then so conservative late.
Sanford is more to blame. Thompkins didn’t have a Target after his touchdown but Compton had two.
Nothing vertical to Scarver. Tons of runs on 2nd and long. Our offense stayed ahead of the chains last year and We didn’t tonight. How many 3 and outs tonight? 5 I think.

Re: That is on gary!
So some of you seem to expect a coach to win every game? Wake is a solid team and was all the way across the country. We have a lot to work on but I think we will.

Re: That is on gary!
Was it windy? I remember the kickoffs needing to be held in the place. Makes me wonder if that's why we didn't test them deep at all.

Seemed like it was in one direction pretty consistently. Could have had something to do with it.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑August 30th, 2019, 10:03 pmWas it windy? I remember the kickoffs needing to be held in the place. Makes me wonder if that's why we didn't test them deep at all.
Also not sure we had a single run that was designed to go outside the tackles

Just absolute terrible coaching. Too small of a lead with too much time left.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑August 30th, 2019, 9:58 pmWe had at least 3 drives in the 4th with a 4 point lead where we should've been stepping on their necks and instead we were trying to run out the clock. Re: That is on gary!
Piss poor offensive play calling on several occasions.
I think the biggest thing I’m mad at Gary about is his stupid defense. We’re not putting defensive players in a place to succeed. We have GOT to get pressure. We have got to dial up some effective blitzed, and that’s not happening with this stupid defensive scheme.

Not windy at all. Didn't feel any breeze in the stadium and the streamers on top of the field goal posts never moved once all night.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑August 30th, 2019, 10:03 pmWas it windy? Interesting. Seemed like kicks in one direction went farther than the other. Wonder why we had a holder on kickoffs with no wind.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑August 30th, 2019, 10:17 pmNot windy at all. Re: That is on gary!
I will not argue about poor play calling but this is lost because the aggie front seven got kicked to the curb, except for Woody.
The D' B's can not tackle anything.
I thought the O line played much better than what the D.line did.
Not one holding call or penalty on Wake until one of the worst targeting hits I have ever seen.

Of course this is on Gary!!
As I said in chat -It was good of the coaches to leave the system in place and take it upon themselves to learn the system. Too bad they only learned 10% of it.
