Seriously.
If they are patient in Lubbock he will run that program into the ground.

Re: UBAR
Am I in the minority that wants Matt to do well and expects that he will? KK didn’t exactly have Tech on a relevant trajectory in the B12.
Matt’s a USU alum at a non-conference job making $3 million per year. I wish him and his staff well.
Lots of drops for Tech last night and they couldn’t stop the run at all in the 4th Q.

Why be a dick to a former coach who gave us an 11 win season and is also an alumnus?

Because you reap what you sow in life and Matt did a good job of poisoning more than one well in Logan.Smokin Joe wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 5:58 pmYoungBloodAggie wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 8:56 amCongrats to Matt’s new team for finishing somewhere in the neighborhood of fourth in the MW West Division!

Potentially tampering with players so that they’d enter the transfer portal and go to Lubbock is the cherry on top.

I'm a dick to many alumni of various universities. I'm equal opportunity in that way. Very progressive.Smokin Joe wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 5:58 pmYoungBloodAggie wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 8:56 amCongrats to Matt’s new team for finishing somewhere in the neighborhood of fourth in the MW West Division!

Anyway, I guess we can't tease him for losing to a team that lost to Hawaii? He's a big boy and I'm sure he doesn't care what someone on a message board says about him.
Nothing he does is of any benefit to Utah State at this point. If he wins a lot, he's not coming back. If he gets fired for losing, he's not coming back. On the contrary, we have relationships with some of the same Houston and Dallas-area high schools that the Tech staff does, and their misfortune could be for our good.
Finally, I'll just say that based on things I've heard from trusted sources, we are in a better place now for the long-term success of the program than we were under him. Some of the things I've heard make me happy he is gone.

Gary is back and he did far worse at Oregon State than what Welks did here.

Gary wasn’t able to ride the coattails of the previous coach at Oregon State, like Wells was able to do here.dyedblue wrote:Gary is back and he did far worse at Oregon State than what Welks did here.

Re: UBAR
I knew this was coming soon. I'm not a Coach Wells apologist by any means, there are things about his tenure that I wish I didn't know, but at what point in time will what he accomplished here at USU stand on their own? Winning record argument, was it really the coordinators and all of that other $hit aside, he won a lot while he was here and had an unprecedented run of bowl game appearances.2004AG wrote: ↑September 16th, 2019, 8:39 amGary wasn’t able to ride the coattails of the previous coach at Oregon State, like Wells was able to do here.dyedblue wrote:Gary is back and he did far worse at Oregon State than what Welks did here.

Re: UBAR
Matt teaches that, it's obvious. I've never seen a team flagged more for it than us in all the years he was HC here.TheAKAggie wrote: ↑September 14th, 2019, 10:49 pmUsed to be Aggie related. TT just got a delay of game for having a hard count on D.

Re: UBAR
I'm happy Wells is out there getting paid. I'm even more happy that he gave us that one great year then chose to move out. I don't think he would have duplicated last season but once every 10 years maybe. I think Wells would have been a 6-7 coach here most years. I think Gary is a better recruiter, a better coach for the players, and a more likeable coach for fans/media.aggies22 wrote: ↑September 16th, 2019, 8:55 amI knew this was coming soon.
