Utah's Huntley out for the year?
Trib and PAC news are reporting Huntley out for the year. A running QB simply cannot survive the college game for any length of time.

Whitt tried to have his own Chuckie Keeton and its working out in predictable fashion. IMHO, we should have curtailed CK's running, but he was such a competitor. He was going to get that 1st down against BYU or die trying.

Re: Utah's Huntley out for the year?
And now the focus turns to Provo and even to Boise as the next pair of nominees for damaged running quarterbacks achieves more focused interest. At Utah State we have unfortunately incurred any number of injuries to our quarterbacks over the recent seasons as they carried the ball and became a "fresh meat" target for the opposition.

Can you post links? All I'm seeing are reports that he may or may not miss this week's game.Smokin Joe wrote: ↑September 24th, 2019, 12:01 amTrib and PAC news are reporting Huntley out for the year. A running QB simply cannot survive the college game for any length of time.

Nobody is reporting Huntley is out for the year. Pretty huge stretch by Smokin Joe extrapolating off a small rumor the Huntley would be out this week.

The Trib had a headline and also the PAC-12 news was reporting it. Perhaps they were pre-mature. Below is a link to the Trib story. (I didn't read it 'cause I'm not going to pay to read their horrible newspaper).

Re: Utah's Huntley out for the year?
Boise State's Hank Bachmeier is the next candidate to get killed. Have you seen some of the hits he has taken. Boise State fans are talking about his toughness. But I see a quarterback who is going to soon have a happy trigger finger as opposing defenses get tougher and defensive lines bear down on him because Boise State's line can't protect him and he doesn't want to get killed back there. I haven't seen him run hardly at all-- don't know if he can.

Re: Utah's Huntley out for the year?
I disagree; the college game especially has adopted the style of mobile, running QB's after a generation of moving away from them toward the classic drop back passer. Generally speaking, a QB who is running is more aware of where the fire is going to come from than the QB standing in the pocket concentrating downfield - this is where most blind side hits come or someone rolling up into his knee.Smokin Joe wrote: ↑September 24th, 2019, 12:01 amTrib and PAC news are reporting Huntley out for the year. Of course, this depends on if the QB is running 12-15 times a game or just occasionally scrambling for some yards when the pocket breaks down.
Just a lot of variables.
Personally, I prefer the pure passer who can move around in the pocket and occasionally runs for a first down here and there.

Re: Utah's Huntley out for the year?
I'm a little offended that you are likening Huntley unto CK. Chuckie could do everything. Huntley was better suited to be the QB at a military school.Smokin Joe wrote: ↑September 24th, 2019, 12:10 amSmokin Joe wrote: ↑September 24th, 2019, 12:01 amTrib and PAC news are reporting Huntley out for the year. I assume your trying to be humorous since the article was published in 2018.Smokin Joe wrote: ↑September 24th, 2019, 9:14 amThe Trib had a headline and also the PAC-12 news was reporting it. I'm guessing they posted the wrong article. Here is a recent one about how their QB MIGHT be out for the season.AGGIEFIGHT wrote: ↑September 24th, 2019, 10:17 amI assume your trying to be humorous since the article was published in 2018.Smokin Joe wrote: ↑September 24th, 2019, 9:14 amThe Trib had a headline and also the PAC-12 news was reporting it. Re: Utah's Huntley out for the year?
Is Huntley a QB? I don't think I've ever watched a game where I saw him throw the ball, at least not a catch-able pass.

He's completing like 76% of his passes and has thrown for 800 yards and 5 TDs. (Love has thrown for a 1000 yards in one less game) but only 3 TDs.

Love has thrown 4 TDs. But to your point, still doing it with one less game.Smokin Joe wrote: ↑September 24th, 2019, 5:33 pmHe's completing like 76% of his passes and has thrown for 800 yards and 5 TDs. (Love has thrown for a 1000 yards in one less game) but only 3 TDs.

Have you watched Huntley play? He is awful. He completed a high percentage because every throw he makes is within 5 years of the line of scrimmage and usually hangs the receiver out to dry.Smokin Joe wrote:He's completing like 76% of his passes and has thrown for 800 yards and 5 TDs. Kind of like the little forward tosses we did with Jojo Natson back in the day.
