It really sucks. I feel for Shayne. Seems he was part of an industry where you had to “pay to play.” I’ve played a lot of golf with Shayne. He loves Usu as much anyone. I’m really bummed out by this.

Is this what ahbye was talking about and thus it is not a bunch of player issues potentially associated with the howl?

Blocked by Marine Corps servers. I'd appreciate a quick rundown.

Pretty sure the football team was in Colorado Springs the night of the howl...

The FedEx manager got charged with illegally accepting bribes for favorable routes from 9 different trucking companies. One of the guys in trouble for illegally bribing the manager for favoritism is a big booster with the Aggies. NOT Jim Laub, but Shayne Murdock. He donated the trailer that hauls football equipment. He has regularly been on the sidelines with the football team at away games. He also has a daughter on the USU soccer team but even years before has been regularly at the soccer games.

No, this is what Alex Wheat was tweeting about a couple of days ago. Murdock's name was listed as a part of the scandal when it was first reported a couple of days ago and Alex just happened to know the name and who he was when he read it. This is a follow up article which spells out Shayne's ties to Cache Valley and USU.

This is not news that would concern campus law enforcement.

Can the feds seize a donated trailer as part of asset collection in a fraud case?

Depends upon when donated. If during the last 4 years, then maybe.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

This has been in the works for at least 2 years. Shayne knew what he was doing. He knew it was wrong and he knew the risks. He decided he would rather be dishonest and wealthy than honest and a regular old guy like the rest of us. He knew this day was coming. I don’t feel bad for him. I do feel bad for his family.

This is not news that would concern campus law enforcement.
First, there are a number of witnesses the campus police could have been asked to interview to assist the feds. Like the people in the AD involved in accepting the donated trailer or other donations from him, or Murdock's daughter on the soccer team.

Secondly, even if it doesn't concern Ahbye as a cop, it could still concern him as a fan like it concerns us. Campus police still have more access to stuff federal officers are investigating than normal people. Plus the campus chief has a history working for the federal government so he would know a lot of people who would have told him about this before it went public and more than ever goes public. And have been asked for some help on this case.

If this isn't it and there is a separate incident involving players, there was another suspicious drugs incident at Blue Square last night to go along with the October 12 one.

Is he in jail or out on bail for now? Does anyone know if USU still has possession of the football trailer or if the Feds confiscated it?

I don’t think there’s any reason to be concerned for the trailer. If we want our AD to be funded by dishonest businessmen we may as well slap a Y on our helmets and call ourselves the Tigers.

Abhye talked like this was something totally different. Someone asked about the Murdock thing in Chat. It is after the mid-week when we were promised the other slipper to fall. I'm still waiting.

Or a sign THIS was it. But there could be more to it to be released later, like players accepting gifts.

Shane has not done the equipment trucking for USU for the past couple of years.
It will be interesting to see what facts come out. I would guess they are throwing the book at him hoping to scare him with
a prison sentence but will settle with restitution and a reduced punishment. This is the norm for the majority of white collar crimes.
A few years ago we had a donor who was charged with a 40 million dollar ponzi scheme some of it was donated to USU.
He agreed to help recover the money that was hidden in foreign bank accounts and he avoided prison time. Several years later he was at it again and ended up in prison over a similiar fraud

My guess is that as long as he cooperates it will be probation and a big federal fine. They want a guarantee to testify against the Fed ex guy and everyone else involved. Since its federal, cooperation is a big part of the sentencing guidelines as well..not that it should be but that's reality of the rigged federal show trial system.
