Re: Embarrassments
The problem with our team is lack of talent, I mean can you imagine how bad we would be on offense if we hadn't gotten Repp and Marnier as grad transfers. On D MW did a very poor job at recruiting we played a 3-4 scheme under him and we have absoutly no depth at linebacker! Don't even get me started on how bad our secondary is, we made BYU's WRs look like all americans. And for some reason no one and I mean no One can make a flipping tackle to save their lives!!! Every 3rd down conversion we had them stopped short and 1,2, and even 3 guys would miss a tackle!

Re: Embarrassments
There is talent on the d. The question is if being used well. I do agree that depth is lacking.
Why aren’t we using Bond in creative ways the way Roquemore was used last year. Why is Tei and Baker being used in man to man coverage. Clearly not their strong suit.

Re: Embarrassments
Roquemore was 6'3 200lbs and played LB Bond is 5'10 185 and plays Safety. And is our best S at that. We're all ready thin at S as is, who would you replace him with? As far as DE in coverge I haven't seen that other than in zone biltz schemes. So i dint know what to tell youletsbehonest wrote: ↑November 3rd, 2019, 2:46 pmThere is talent on the d. Gary is a poor substitute.
You can be friends with the players but at some level you have to motivate them.
Matt motivated players. Some did not like it and some did. Regardless they showed up to play.
Gary is their buddy , but they need a coach.
This team is physically weak, they are getting beat upfront on both sides of the ball that needs to change before you can do anything that is on Gary to change that.

Something is way off with Gary. Could be a drinking problem too, reminds me of drunks I’ve known. But I have no hard facts.

No problem! You brought up an interesting topic. I like your additional notes as well. Re: Embarrassments
Sorry that's just my observation. We have an emotionless Head Football Coach and it looks to me like it's bleeding over to the Team, a terrible thing to watch. I was pretty excited for the season, thought some really good hires were made on the staff now I'm not so sure and it starts at the top. This Team is a mess right now and I really hope it can be fixed. I think you know this in your heart Youngblood but you are in denial, that's why IMO you make fun of my Erectile dysfunction and resort to eluding to another posters wife cheating on him. I hope we can at least compete with Fresno, they have been putting up a lot of points lately and we haven't. I really hate to say it but I think we are going to get smoked again on Saturday, I hope i get a giant serving of Cache Valley Crow Saturday night.YoungBloodAggie wrote: ↑November 4th, 2019, 6:17 pmNot sure why everyone is mad at these two. Moving the the 4-3 was a terrible mistake. Look no further than the silence we hear from Tipa Galeai. That has been a waste of talent.

I have to say, when I talk to my favorite person, he is very frustrated - I don't think the team can quite figure out what is happening with their mojo. Jordan hasn't placed blame on any one person or group - he's just frustrated with what's happening on game day.

Re: Embarrassments
Don't we have 53 new players on this year's team? Gary didn't inherit an 11-2 team. Utah State is not a program that can just reload every year. The fact of the matter is we have very talented starters but no depth. Losing Leilua, Woodward, Koch, and Warren have been absolutely brutal this year imo. Their replacements aren't even close to their level. We also have a much tougher schedule this year compared to last. LSU would be in the playoff right now. Wake Forest is 21. San Diego St. is ranked in the AP Poll. I believe Air Force is better than San Diego St. The offense has struggled because of inconsistent play from every position group, and the defense is absolutely gassed. GA mentioned we're ranked 130 in the country in time of possession. Our defense has played more snaps than almost every team in the country and there is absolutely no way a front 7 can stay healthy if that is the case. My hope is we beat Wyoming and New Mexico and go to a bowl game at 6-6. Yay Potato Bowl!!!

Re: Embarrassments
Clearly the last few weeks have been a total embarrassment. Though as I mentioned in another thread, we are just about where most of the national experts predicted. And most of them were suspect of the GA hire. The real question is, does Gary have the fire and motivation to make this work going forward? I agree with the comments that from day 1 his public persona has come across as the fire being gone. That is troubling and could undo much of what he has done to recruit good talent.

Re: Embarrassments
Love you my fellow Aggie, but it is instead you that is coming off as triggered.Naked Bull Rider wrote: ↑November 8th, 2019, 5:25 pmThis is the 2nd time I’ve had to fix the thread quotes for you. I’m not sure how you messed that up to begin with, but it leads me to believe you’re an older fellow.Agezzz wrote: ↑November 7th, 2019, 8:15 pmAgain, you have no clue as to what you are talking about. But since you've met him, maybe those of us who know him really well have been fooled. I thought Huntsman was a noble person, but it must be just about write offs for him too. Thanks for your enlightenment.Naked Bull Rider wrote: ↑November 2nd, 2019, 11:16 pmActually I’ve met the guy. I don’t have anything bad to say about him. I’ve also been quite familiar with his many contributions for years (as most of us are). I fully appreciate the many tax write-offs he’s built on campus. Still doesn’t change a damn thing I said. Have a beer.Agezzz wrote: ↑November 7th, 2019, 10:58 am
1. Strong-armed hire GA (thank Laub and friends)
You don't have enough time to thank Jim Laub for what he has done on Behalf of USU sports and the University. Not to mention countless donations and help to organization and to people that you don't even know exist. Simply to help them out without anyone knowing about it.
All you know about him is his name. That's obvious!
I never claimed to know him better than anyone else. All I said was I’ve met the guy and don’t have anything bad to say about him. I never said he or Huntsman aren’t noble for his gifts to the university, I just pointed out the FACT that they are also tax write-offs. I even went as far as to say I fully appreciate his many contributions! Are you even reading what I wrote?
Man- you are some kind of triggered right now. Is this you, Laub? Are you mad at me for saying you strong-armed Hartwell into hiring Gary? Reply with another incorrect quote box if it’s you.

Re: Embarrassments
Yes, his reply was actually amusing. I'm simply sticking up for a friend that does not base his amazing support for USU upon tax write offs. Mr Bull Rider can continue to wander into any alternative universe he chooses. Not my problem. Go Aggies!Sl7vk wrote: ↑November 8th, 2019, 6:48 pmLove you my fellow Aggie, but it is instead you that is coming off as triggered.Naked Bull Rider wrote: ↑November 8th, 2019, 5:25 pmThis is the 2nd time I’ve had to fix the thread quotes for you. Re: Embarrassments
Wow this place has turned into real garbage,
To attack Gary by saying he is drinking without any knowledge is so asinine, and childish, it deserves no further comment.Rumor's spread about players sleeping with other players girl friends etc.
Jim Laub gets attacked on this forum, is another asinine comment. I have often wondered why Jim bothers with USU. Unlike so many on here instead of (I can't express myself without swearing) and whine he actually ask's what can I do to help, perhaps we should follow his lead.
I know if you do not like the forum leave, well that is good advise. This is a fan base that gives Big Sky levels of support but attacks when they do not get Mountain west level quality. Instead of whine and moan why not do as Jim does and ask what can I do to help, because what is going on here will do no good, but it is cheaper right ? We do know that Jim could give to the U of U and get a much, better return on his investment and it most likely would help his business much more than spending on USU, but he is loyal to where in lives, and where he went to school are all of us that ?
That is all I have to say on this forum.

Re: Embarrassments
I don’t think it’s any exaggeration to say that without Jim Laub there is no MW conference for the Aggies. At best, we’d be playing b-ball in the WAC and be an independent in football just like NMState. At best.
The tax-write off comment was not a neutral comment. It was meant as a slam. You know it and everybody else knows it. If you don’t like what Laub did in the Andersen hiring, that’s fine but taking shots at our biggest benefactor is petty.
This thread is titled perfectly for the comments made within it by some. Depressing tbh.
