Mason Falslev
Hopefully Falslev will see the different directions the Aggies and ute programs are going and will change his mind. How can a kid not want to play for Coach Smith? Smith would turn him into a much better player than Krysco ever will.

Smith is awesome and Krystko is a tool. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

Re: Mason Falslev
The big draw to Utah for Mason is he is besties with Rylan Jones. Sometimes the allure of playing with one of your buddies is too tough to overcome in the recruiting game. I'll see if I can find out if we are even still recruiting him.

I see Mason went ahead and signed with Utah.
These Falslevs really hate USU don't they?

The young man as a 3 star player is a little below what Utah has this season they start 3 soph. and 2 freshman all are 4 star recruits. Playing on the big stage is a little hard to recruit against.

It was Duryea who screwed the pooch on this one. This ship has sailed. Maybe he'll eventually transfer here after he realizes what a douche Krystowiak is.

Re: Mason Falslev
Playing in the Pac-12 had very little to do with it ? I wonder how some think Tim D. had anything to do with a kid not signing after he is no longer here ? Surely he must have known there has been a change.

Once the decision was made he wasn't going to rescind it. And to aggies22's point he had a personal motivation also. My sources on this one are at least as good as 22's.

I was waiting for a definition of what the "big stage" was but I see you are referring to the PAC-12. LMAO...unless your jersey says Arizona or Oregon across the front, no one could give a rip about the rest of the PAC-12 in bball.oleblu111 wrote: ↑November 18th, 2019, 12:35 pmPlaying in the Pac-12 had very little to do with it ? I think I saw an article that said Utah had the 7th best recruiting class for 2020 so maybe they are headed in the right direction. Still not sure I would want to play for their coach though.

Utah has been recruiting well the past few years but they lose a lot every year so they're in a constant rebuild mode.providencealum wrote: ↑November 18th, 2019, 1:11 pmI think I saw an article that said Utah had the 7th best recruiting class for 2020 so maybe they are headed in the right direction. I believe Utah hired their top recruit this years dad or something like that. Then of course we know about their freshman guard and that he is on staff as well.providencealum wrote: ↑November 18th, 2019, 1:11 pmI think I saw an article that said Utah had the 7th best recruiting class for 2020 so maybe they are headed in the right direction. If you guys think playing in Logan with other MWC schools is as big a stage as playing in Salt Lake City in the Pac-12 that is just fine with me. I just do not buy that.

Unless you play for one of the blue bloods in this country the big stage isn't going to be your home games. Your goal is to make some noise in March.

Of course if we look at the NCAA I find Utah has a 38-32 record. USU is 6-22, with the last USU win coming in 2001, since 2001 Utah has 4 wins.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑November 18th, 2019, 3:10 pmUnless you play for one of the blue bloods in this country the big stage isn't going to be your home games. Re: Mason Falslev
I'm not going to pretend that USU has had more success in the NCAA Tournament than Utah but I would also look at where both programs are and what direction they are trending. Utah has an above average number of players leaving each year...and it's not just bench players. It's a revolving door of players there similar to what we saw under Duryea. Utah has more resources than us but I think it's going to require a change for them to get back.oleblu111 wrote: ↑November 18th, 2019, 5:00 pmOf course if we look at the NCAA I find Utah has a 38-32 record. they also have a top 10 national recruiting class for 2020 and have finished in the top half of the pac-12 basically every year for a while. I'd pick utah over usu if i thought i'd get playing time at utah.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑November 18th, 2019, 5:24 pmI'm not going to pretend that USU has had more success in the NCAA Tournament than Utah but I would also look at where both programs are and what direction they are trending. Re: Mason Falslev
You can live in denial all you want but for a kid from northern Utah that is not getting offers from Duke or Kansas, the PAC-12 is the big stage, whether it is more TV exposure, better budgets, more players in the NBA, more teams in the NCAA. Right or wrong the PAC-12 name carries weight on the recruiting trail regardless if it is Arizona or Oregon State.Aglicious wrote: ↑November 18th, 2019, 12:54 pmI was waiting for a definition of what the "big stage" was but I see you are referring to the PAC-12. Re: Mason Falslev
But even with the revolving door of players, Krysco being an (I can't express myself without swearing)(at least according to what I hear on this board) , mediocre results, compare that with USU's success, trending up, including a dynamic coach that from all indications is doing a great job recruiting. The U is still out recruiting us. Other than selling the PAC-12 and the big stage, how are they doing it?ProvoAggie wrote: ↑November 18th, 2019, 5:24 pmI'm not going to pretend that USU has had more success in the NCAA Tournament than Utah but I would also look at where both programs are and what direction they are trending. That's the thinking that I've never completely agreed with. If you're good the scouts will find you so that you can go pro no matter where you play.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑November 18th, 2019, 5:41 pmI'd pick utah over usu if i thought i'd get playing time at utah.
So then it comes down to which school gives you the best college experience. Who cares about anything beyond that.

I went to Utah State because I didn't want to live at home and go to UNLV, or even be in the same city as my family. I wanted to be on my own. so if I'm playing at sky view high school, i'm probably leaving cache valley as well for the better college experience.AggieFBObsession wrote: ↑November 18th, 2019, 7:03 pmThat's the thinking that I've never completely agreed with. Re: Mason Falslev
I went to Sky View with mason. From what I know is that the reason for him signing at the Utah definitely takes into account that Rylan Jones is playing there, they certainly arent besties but when Rylan verbally committed young in high school, mason was looked at by both schools and how would you not follow Jones' footsteps to a program, that then was in much better condition than ours. He verbally committed as a sophomore as well and was not going to back out on that even seeing the rise of USU with Coach Smith.
