Confirmed: Aircraft Carrier Commits to USU
6'9, 260 LB center: Nigel John, 3 star on Rivals. Couldn't find him on 247. Nice pickup for the Aggies.

Re: Confirmed: Aircraft Carrier Commits to USU
We've talked a bit about him on the forum. Originally committed to Washington State. USU went hard at him but a lot of people assumed he'd go high-major. I think this is a big pickup.

Puns aside, this is awesome. All the chatter about Nigel John we've had on here makes me really excited for this.

Man, I wasn't paying attention. Do you know who else was recruiting him. My googling skills couldn't find him on 247.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑November 25th, 2019, 3:25 pmWe've talked a bit about him on the forum. Originally committed to Washington State. This shows him being recruited by Wash. St. (of course) as well as Pitt, Kansas St., La Tech., Oral Robers, and Tulsa.

What was the deal with his hs situation? Wasn’t it really low level? Source? Also, were there other teams that wanted him that aren't listed on 247?

Also, the tweet Nigel sent out says committed but I believe he actually signed an LOI last week before the signing period ended. He's 100% in.

Re: Confirmed: Aircraft Carrier Commits to USU
Awesome. He can move extremly well for a big guy. Hope he is playing tougher competition now. The way he moves reminds me of a poor man's Zion. That's a compliment, no body moves like Zion.
22, does this mean we are no longer recruiting the other guy you couldn't tell us about? Who is he? I guess if Stall and/or Grootfam move on then there is a spot for him. We still need another wing though.

Actually, I think we need a point guard, Able P. Will be moving on. I’m pretty sure Ashworth will not be ready for prime time just yet.Blitz79 wrote: ↑November 25th, 2019, 5:53 pmAwesome. Re: Confirmed: Aircraft Carrier Commits to USU
We should look for a transfer point guard with D1 experience, possibly from a P6 school. If we continue to play very well and the main spot of need next year is PG, I bet some guys would come and play for Smith if they are in the transfer portal.bullshot wrote: ↑November 25th, 2019, 6:19 pmActually, I think we need a point guard, Able P. This is Coach Smith’s 2nd aircraft carrier landing.
Of all the things Coach Smith has accomplished already, the most impressive may be the fact he’s landed not one, but two aircraft carriers already.

Queta, Kuba, and John. Doesn’t that make three?

Re: Confirmed: Aircraft Carrier Commits to USU
I absolutely believe we would take a second big man during the spring signing period. But I think he might be more like a McChesney type than a big bodied dude like Nigel. Grootfaam is a senior so he's gone anyway. At this point in time, I would be surprised if Stall moved on.Blitz79 wrote: ↑November 25th, 2019, 5:53 pmAwesome. He can move extremly well for a big guy. Nigel John is a HUGE get he's our second or third highest rated recruit ever!

Help me out here. I have seen a similar comment a couple of times. But I guess I have not been paying attention. Porter is a Junior this year. Why is it that we don’t expect him to return to USU for his Senior season? Thanks.bullshot wrote: ↑November 25th, 2019, 6:19 pmActually, I think we need a point guard, Able P. Will be moving on. I actually know this! He graduates this year and doesn't plan on pursuing basketball professionally so he is thinking he will move on with his life, which is understandable!utaggies wrote: ↑November 25th, 2019, 6:50 pmHelp me out here.
