Playing bad or opposing teams playing great?

Post by Aggieforlife » December 18th, 2019, 8:24 pm

Are we just playing really bad or are we just getting one of everyone’s best game of the year?

I would say probably a little bit of both, we can and should be playing better, but I also thing we’re getting everyone’s best shot.

Quality of teams we are playing is much better than what we used to play. But we do have some shooters really struggling.

We are not playing very well. Some guys are really slumping.

As of right now I think we’ll lose at least 4 conference games.

We're not as good as we'd hoped. We're probably going to have to win the MWC tournament to go dancing.

But this is still a fun team to cheer for.

I think 14-4 wins the regular season MW, so I’ll take that.

I don't know what it is but it just seems like we are really out of sync. Offensively it
seems like we are always pressing to get a shot off. Maybe it's because it will take a while to get used to having Queta in the rotation. On the defensive side we struggle to get stops. Go Aggies

Always good to beat an AAC school, but we are in a shooting slump that we desperately need to break out of.

Here’s to hoping we can break out of our shooting slump and get our second SEC win of the season. At the beginning of the season, I absolutely would have taken 2-2 against the LSU, SMC, BYU, and Florida schedule.

We shot over 50% for FGs tonight, and on defense we made them run the clock out multiple times. I think the biggest issue tonight was the turnovers and FTs.

14-4 won’t get it done this year. SDSU is the #1 team in the nation by the ncaa’s Net ranking.

Good point. Let’s hand them the MWC thanks to these “rankings.”

We are not shooting well from 3, especially Miller and Brito. They have not been good the last 3-4 games. Our D is suspect. Teams are beating us off the dribble with ease. Good defensive teams hold other teams to 40% or below. We have not done that at all lately. Last year we were very good defensively, this year, not so much.

Brito has struggled the last few games, He looks like the Freshman and Sophmore Brito.

I was just reading over on the USF board and they were happy with their performance and some said that they were playing to the best of their abilities. They were a good team, but I don't feel like we have played to our full potential at all this whole season. So I think we have been receiving some of our opponent's best shots and their better efforts. I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of games come down to the wire here and we are going to get better by grinding out these wins. So if we do get in the tournament we should be battle-tested.

Cut Brito some slack. I recommend that you should re-watch that San Jose State game to know why Brito has struggled. Between Merrill and Brito, our tape cost must be high.

Remember, Brito is hurt and doing well on his ankle, which likely is affecting his shooting, etc.

Agreed. Deep down I was preparing to go 0-4 or 1-3. 2-2 I would gladly take.

I do believe though had Queta not gotten injured we would have won at SMC and I think the BYU game goes different if Queta wasn’t just coming back. So I look at where we are right now and am pretty happy with our record. What I’m not happy about is how sloppy we look and know it will bite us against a bad team if we don’t fix it.

We don’t look good right now. Not since the 2nd half of LSU. A lot of it is injuries, others just can’t seem to find their shots and that forces other mistakes. We need to get healthy and get things cleaned up.

I know there’s sarcasm there but to continue on that point, I could see SDSU losing to us and to NM. They could have an off night and drop one to the middle group (BSU,NEV, CSU, AF). They barely slipped by SJSU at home let’s not forget. 14-4 may very well be #1 this year. 15-3 is more likely though.

USF giving #19 Florida State all they can handle. USF with the lead in the 2nd half.

Wish they could have pulled that out. Still makes us look better. USF is a good team.
