Eh it's his first year being a coordinator, I'll give him another year.

Sure, you think the D was bad this year. Give him another with the crumbs coming back. He and Gary will both be gone if that happens. His mistakes aren't Rookie mistakes. Football 101 mistakes.

Last year the same guys knew how to tackle. This year they don’t. Whoever is responsible for the change needs to go.

The way I see it I can't get much worse but I am fearful that it will stay the same. But I do believe people learn from their mistakes so there should be some improvement next year. I wasn't excited with the GA hire but he isn't dumb, there will be some changes somewhere.

He (I can't express myself without swearing) up to start. Converted our two OLBs to 4 man front D ends where they became inneffective relying on Woody to clean up the mess. Of course 24 tackles a game got him concussed and then all hell broke loose. And he didn't have a clue of what to do.

We had many more people return on the defensive side of the ball. They progressively got worse at tackling over the year. Whomever was teaching that needs to go.

Not having any serviceable or even solid LB killed us. Noticed Shelton played all night and he’s not good at least right now.

So who are you talking about? I've told numerous people that DJ was not a good DB and I said it last yr. Lefredge sp is terrible at tackling but he's new and under sized. So what players are you talking about? I'm sure if we had someone better they'd be playing.

I agree with your take on tackling but I think its more a lack of talent right now. Even though we have #'s at LB doesn't mean its quality.

Agreed, who are these same guys? The cupboard was bare, wells left us with NO depth. Sure I wish Tipa had stayed OLB but they tried a different scheme that sucked with what they had. Tipa himself on the radio talked about how the coaches had been preaching them to wrap up and tackle and he admired even he had been failing at it.

Thats what happened when they converted them to D end. Yes are MLB sucked sans woody but in the 4 2 5 with ends playing out of position and safeties who couldn't tackle it was a disaster.

If we keep talking about it's the same players as last year why are they bad now? There are two common denominators, COACHING and SCHEME. If we just say that a four man front didn't work this year, it sure as hell won't work next year. All your talent and depth just walked out the door after playing their last game tonight.

Yeah, and next year’s schedule is tough. I’m not optimistic.

I feel like he was givin the keys to a super fast car and all he did this year was look at it and occasionally rev the engine! Embarrassing!

Hard for any OC to get the ball rolling when 6 minutes run off the clock due to us not being able to stop other teams offense

Here's my take. The secondary needs a major overhaul. They need to let others have a real shot of playing. That group was the cause of the majority of drives being extended. Poor containment and shedding blocks. Poor man coverage. Poor tackling and angles to stop plays. Poor route recognition. I don't recall every seeing a contested come back route which are insanely easy when you play 8 yards off coverage. We should have 4 new starters there next year no matter what.

Before this game, Kent State had positive time of possession (i.e., more than 30 minutes) in only two games. Their 32:19 last night was their best number of the season.
