Hear me out: Zaire Wade
We should absolutely offer this kid. He is having a hard time getting off the bench for one of the best basketball teams in the country (Sierra Canyon) where he is a good, but not elite player. The guys getting all the playing time are among the top recruits in the nation.
Zaire would be among the best players we have ever brought in, his dad would likely attend a few games and give us some attention on a national level, and we are a program that could use a new PG. I do like Ashworth and Bairstow, but Zaire could easily compete with them.
For Zaire, we are back-to-back champs of a mid-major program (none of his other offers can claim to be champs, but at least Rhode Island is good-ish). He will be loved by the fans and have a chance to play big games against conference and non-conference opponents.
OFFER THIS DUDE!

Re: Hear me out: Zaire Wade
Go after him!!! Just think of the attention we would get having Dwyane Wade's son! Plus he has ELITE athleticism and good handling skills. Like you guys said, he is sitting behind a bunch of 5 stars.
And the earlier we were to offer him the greater chance he comes. Plus they live in California so its closer to home than some other small schools offering him.

The last crop of celebrity sports star kids didn't last very long here, namely Rayshad Lewis and Crew Ainge. I don't think Logan really suits those type of kids. I'll pass. Give me a Steven Ashworth type kid over a Zaire Wade any day of the week.

I think it’s a great idea and makes a lot of sense.
Good luck convincing our new head coach of that though.

Re: Hear me out: Zaire Wade
I saw on the ESPN headlines that D-Wade is making a big deal about not showing up for their state game because he’s frustrated about his son’s playing time. I can’t imagine many coaches want to deal with that kind entitled and public parental pressure.

Re: Hear me out: Zaire Wade
I think this all sounds like a good reason to not offer someone just because their daddy did something. It’s not a good argument to ignore pro kids all together in my opinion. It’s not like Lewis did anything for the Terps. Had he been elite at UMD, maybe there is an argument Logan hurt him- but if anything he was much better here.
If as Hipster said, DWade will apply undue pressure on a coach- then its likely not with it.
But no harm in looking at a guy that could wind up being a good ball player, no matter who their pops is.

Re: Hear me out: Zaire Wade
Given how little he has played for his high school team, his ranking is probably somewhat inflated by both his name and the team he played for. I also currently hold a small grudge against his high school team since I learned in the ESPN article that his team won their last game on a last-second shot against the high school I went to in California. Nice to hear my old school is finally good at bball. They really sucked back when I was a student.

So he's missing one of the big moments in his son's life, because he's being a cry baby that his kid isn't playing as much? Good job, solid dad.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑March 11th, 2020, 2:24 pmI saw on the ESPN headlines that D-Wade is making a big deal about not showing up for their state game because he’s frustrated about his son’s playing time. Clearly you don't realize what Crew Ainge brought to the table. I didn't realize it until all the complaints I heard last season after he stopped being the starter. He shat gold on a daily basis.

Re: Hear me out: Zaire Wade
Are you f...ing kidding me. I too hope Ashworth pans out. But you do not choose him (not offered by BYU or U) over another student athlete that would be our highest rated coming in. That being said, I doubt Wade is the second coming..............of Sam M.elcheque2 wrote: ↑March 11th, 2020, 2:11 pmThe last crop of celebrity sports star kids didn't last very long here, namely Rayshad Lewis and Crew Ainge. Re: Hear me out: Zaire Wade
I have no doubt that the coaching staff is aware of him. I trust that if they think he'd be a good fit as a potential Aggie, they'd take the needed steps. The discussion earlier today about Koby's personality highlights the need for fit in the program.
If there's a possibility, I'd love to see an excellent player come our way.

Re: Hear me out: Zaire Wade
If he is a good player that can help the team win, absolutely. If he isn't, pass. That good will you think would be generated would be offset in a hurry when Dwade is using his global platform to rip USU and our coaching staff for not playing him.
I was a fan of Dwade as a player, but pretty lame move to target your son's high school coach knowing your global reach and what it can mean for the coach professionally and personally. Talk to him privately if you have an issue. Sierra Canyon is 30-4 and that is against a national schedule of elite competition and they are currently the top ranked school in California. I am going to bet their coach knows what he is doing.

Once we developed him he’d bail back to Cali
