I like that 3pt percentage. We need some guys that can hit shots.

From his Insta

Smith loves the international guys. I believe we have 1 more scholarship left right? I also imagine this probably means we’ll lose out on Both Gach but 22 already mentioned that.

Shulga played for Ukraine at the 2019 U18 FIBA European Championships, grading out as the most efficient player for his team and among the top five most efficient players in the entire tournament.
Shulga scored in double figures in all but two games during the competition, turning in a tournament-best 22 points against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Shulga also surpassed 20 points against North Macedonia, scoring 21 points and adding 16 rebounds for his first of two double-doubles. Shulga logged 18 points and 10 rebounds in a game against Georgia and finished the tournament averaging 13.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Shulga was the top shooter in the tournament, connecting on 61.9 percent from the floor, including 65.2 percent from inside the 3-point line and 52.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Shulga attended high school at the Basketball School of Excellence in Torrelodones, Spain, where he led the league in scoring, averaging 16 points per game, and also led the league in free throw attempts, averaging 3.8 per contest.

Was there an official announcement about Kuba leaving? Is he leaving for pro ball in Europe? Is he in the transfer portal?

I mean, we need a shooting guard as well, so this fits right in and he looks like a good player.

Looks good to me.

I really like our incoming freshman. If we sign an upperclassman, I hope he's really good. I'd rather give the PT to our Freshman than to some meh upperclassman.

There had been murmurings of such a possibility on the board before, but it didn't sound like anything beyond gross speculation.

How about the JC PG who just de-committed from UNLV. Nick Fleming..Averaged close to 12 with 3 plus assists. He i reportedly a very fine defender. Just 6 feet so maybe smaller than you want but UNLV liked him.

Seems like a really good prospect. He played well against some good competition. I would guess the U18 B division Europe tournament would compare pretty well to some of our better high school programs. Seems like he has a good dribble, good shot and is a good passer. Excited to see him play.

Any news on how highly recruited he was from other programs?

His shooting is really impressive. The three point numbers against any competition is impressive. Gotta think both he and Rollie will get some time this year.

I agree with the shooting part. One of our biggest weaknesses last year was shooting the 3 ball. It got a little better later in the year, but still not great. Watching this guys film he is a good shooter, but seems to be a more than capable ball handler as well. He seems like he can posses the ball and make good decisions.

That's why I ask. I don't believe I've seen his name on rosters people are putting together; but I also haven't seen any announcements. So is he still on the team or not?

The thing I like about him is his ability to put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket and score in traffic. This is something that we didn't have a lot of last year (and the few years prior). Guys like Miller and Daron Henson would shoot from three, but they are not able to drive and score in traffic. This kid seems to have the ability to do that. It makes it so much more difficult to guard a guy when he has more than one arrow in his quiver.

Europe is a pretty safe bet for basketball recruits. Not too many out of South America, Australia/Oceania, or Africa. Basically none out of Asia. And none out of Antarctica...

Actually, where can you find the number of NCAA players by country/continent? Now I'm really interested.

This site shows ones currently and there's a dropdown for each country.

Edit....might be helpful if I include the link.

He might be great, but .... It screams that we are not able to get a transfer here. Having 3 freshman guards is not ideal. I hope we are able to land somebody with experience for the last spot.
