John Hartwell
Is it just me or do we have a super solid AD in Hartwell?

Re: John Hartwell
He is awesome. I know some people think he's aloof, but he is doing right by our program day in and day out. He cleaned up a financial mess left by Barnes, he's made good to great hires when he's been given the final decision, and he's keeping the ship afloat during an extremely tumultuous time.
We are lucky to have him.

I'm actually really smart, probably smarter than you are so if you disagree with what I have stated in this post, you are likely wrong (and dumb).

I may be in the minority but I’m not completely sold. Mainly because some of the skepticism that has been mentioned about him on this board from those in the know.

Re: John Hartwell
He needs to stop doing all of the things that make us successful and spend more time in public to be seen. The more public sightings equals better AD.

Re: John Hartwell
Hartwell is the only reason why I am not worried about the future of USU football. I trust him to hire the right guy. I know, I know, he hired Gary. He was listening to the guy that is pretty much responsible for the success of our program, but I think in spite of that, Hartwell had GA on a short leash.

I can only speak to my interactions with Hartwell, he’s a good dude, very smart and all in to make the AD succeed.

So long as he can keep Laub happy and the checks a'comin'
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Tough situation. Definitely want Laub's money, but don't want him near the hiring process of the next coach.

Re: John Hartwell
I trust John Hartwell implicitly. He's really smart. He's a CPA, so he really understands the financial side of the equation. When you get him one on one, he's very warm, engaging, and personable. When his hands haven't been tied by a major donor, and he's left to do his job, he's made phenomenal hires. He strikes me as a decent, honest, hardworking man. I'm all in.

Re: John Hartwell
You are exactly right now is the time we need to keep buying tickets and donating what we can to the football and basketball programs.
Re: John Hartwell
John has a lot of great qualities that you look for in an athletics director. I feel safe saying that his biggest strength is hiring personnel. He has a nose for talent, and I honestly wouldn't want anyone else making an important hire like this.

Honest question- Is it even possible to not have Laub near this hiring process?

You all are really over complicating this donor issue.

Re: John Hartwell
Hartwell brought in Craig Smith. He probably would’ve also made solid football hire had his hand not been forced.
The man knows what he’s doing and we are lucky to have him.
The failed football experiment is over and I’m excited to see who he can bring in on his own accord. Even if results aren’t immediate, I’m sure the guy he signs will show some damn fire on the sideline (unlike Laub’s GA 2.0).
