Not a chance.

It’s Chico Canales’ job to lose at this point.

I would love to see Maile as HC with Chico and Kent Baer as his coordinators. I wanted this for USU. Unfortunately Hartwell didn't like my suggestion. Maybe Boise State will.

Interesting list of potentials put out by Athlon. All of which have some Boise connections. Wouldn’t be surprised if next coach was in this list. Do t think it’ll be Pete though.
Andy Avalos - Oregon DC
Jeff Choate - MT State HC
Bush Hamdan - Missouri AHC
Zak Hill - Ariz St OC
Eric Kiesau - Boise OC
Dirk Koetter - Atlanta Falcons OC
Kellen Moore - Dallas OC
Chris Petersen - former Washington HC
Mike Sanford - MN OC

I predict Avalos.

Choate should be a considered as a serious candidate. He should have been considered here as well. He is a good coach.

I don’t ever remember when Boise had a defensive guy as head coach. Koetter, Dawkins, Petersen, and Harsin have all been offensive guys and kept that same “Boise” style of offensive game. I wonder if they’d go that route again. I also wonder if Harsin will take his current OC with him to Auburn.

Is "Dawkins" that I keep seeing referred to Dan Hawkins?

Also, Houston Nutt was an offensive coach as well prior to Dirk Koetter.

Kellen Moore set the bar so high for himself when he was a player I’m not sure he could ever live up to the expectations transmission U would put on him.

Breaking: Boise State AD in hot water after mentioning on a zoom call with the players that they’re not interested in hiring a truck driver or potato farmer from Idaho as their next head coach.

Now that the Wildkitties hired away their new HC from the NFL, the SJS guy is available and poachable.

I doubt Brennan would leave SJSU for BSU. not Saying that Boise is not a better Job but with what Brennan is doing at SJSU he is probably better off to wait for a P5 Gig. That said we shall see. I think BSU will hire someone from the Athlon list mention earlier in the thread.

Well, what's interesting is that I didn't see Anderson on anyone's list of candidates for our vacancy back in November.

Hey now  I take a couple weeks off from the board and this is how I’m treated In my absence 😂😂😂

Even though I advocated for Choate here, this is his dream job. He’s an Idaho native and worked on Chris Peterson’s staff at BSU for 6 years from 06-11, and then spent another two years with Peterson and UDub 14-15. From what I’ve heard talking to people, it sounds like right now it’s Avalos’ job to lose but guess what? Harrell was the leader here and that didn’t come to fruition, Brennan was the leader at Arizona and that didn’t come to fruition, and outside of maybe Illinois, idk that anybody has gotten their top choice. The reason being that many departments are strapped for cash and with Choate only making $180k compared to Avalos making $850k, they can get Choate cheaper then Avalos and Avalos may want more money then they may be willing to offer.

I can tell you this though. While Avalos may be the fan favorite right now, just wait until Choate gets into the room to interview (which he’s officially gotten invited to do), his energy and his passion for a place like BSU could turn the tide in his favor. Not to mention that he is a head coach and Peterson may advocate for him to get the job. There’s also been tons of former BSU players advocating for him to get hired, and there’s even an online petition out there to make Choate the head coach, which last I looked had more then 130 signatures.

And no I haven’t been advocating for Choate on their board for two reasons 1. I’m an Aggie and would actually like to beat them 2. You have to pay to use their board and on a college kids budget, I’m already paying for too many subscriptions. I won’t be an every day poster, but I’ll be around from time to time to discuss USU football more.

Having to pay to post on their board eh? That is so BSU.
Better have a sock full of coins to use the campus showers....
If they charged per post here, I'd need to take out a Heloc.

My guess is either Avalos or Moore, unless Pete comes back. Forget Hawkins, Peterson made him a winner.

BSU has won long before Pete. It's had a great history of success in football going all the way back to Lyle Smith. They'll pick a really good coach and win. That's what BSU does win consistently.

Dirk Koetter is who got it going and Hawkins was his OC. Petersen was great, but Hawkins hired him and gave him his first OC job. They were a 10 win program when Hawkins got the job and would have been pretty good even if Petersen had stayed at Oregon.

I hope they don't. Herman is a pretty good coach and would do well at Boise State. Texas isn't as easy to win at as people make it out to be. Ask Charlie Strong how that worked out.

Texas has money, has in-state talent of the highest level. It's not easy to win anywhere but Texas should be easier than most.

I agree. I do wonder why no one has been able to win there consistently since around Michael Vick. I mean to me that is a top 5 program with its resources and location to recruits.
