Re: Game on!
This article makes it sound like that Fresno State choose not have that 2nd game. The team was positive in December and test so regularly (there is a limit on how much one should test for such things). The excuse sounds pretty lame.FL350Aggie wrote: ↑February 8th, 2021, 9:53 pmhttps://www.hjnews.com/sports/usu/aggie ... 70a9e.html

Re: Game on!
Yeah sounds like Fresno opted out of the game after we did contact tracing. That also sounds like it isn't usu players which would be good for us.

Re: Game on!
I wonder if the city of Fresno or the county had any say in the matter (heaven knows they would never overreact). It does sound like there was no real risk to either team in terms of players and coaches. Excited the game is on for Wednesday.

Re: Game on!
I figured that if there's any cancellation in our conference schedule that it would be against a team from Covidfornia.

Re: Game on!
The doctor made the call. There was a risk for infection (due to what I'm inferring was a false positive), and the doctor made the call that they would not proceed. It wasn't the coaches or the players.SLB wrote: ↑February 8th, 2021, 11:08 pmThis article makes it sound like that Fresno State choose not have that 2nd game. Re: Game on!
Now that we are alone on top of the conference, can we strategically have some players get covid every week for the rest of the regular season and forfeit our way into the conference championship?

I feel like it's got to be us with the covid issues. Hard to see a coincidence that Fresno State had to postpone and now Wyoming.

Re: Game on!
We've had no players or coaches test positive since the false positive on Saturday. Most of our team falls under the 150 day window post infection due to the outbreak in December, which means they don't even have to test. This was Wyoming's call to not play. Typical yellow behavior to avoid browning their pants against the Aggies.Aggiealum13 wrote: ↑February 9th, 2021, 9:29 amI feel like it's got to be us with the covid issues. Any chance we try to find another game then? We will have played like one game in three weeks by the time the Boise games come around.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑February 9th, 2021, 9:42 amWe've had no players or coaches test positive since the false positive on Saturday. Just being selfish I needed it as well. Check out the weather of your former Lawrence stomping grounds this week. Downright painful out here.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑February 9th, 2021, 9:36 amDang. This sucks. I need these games during the February doldrums.

As much as I hate playing them, get the byu-provo on the phone and get a game in the Marriott Center for another Q-1 game. They have postponements vs St Mary's and San Diego this week too.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑February 9th, 2021, 9:46 am

Re: Game on!
This is 3 cancelations for us. If we were to play 4 fewer games than the average number of games played by our opponents then seeding is eventually penalized.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑February 9th, 2021, 9:27 amNow that we are alone on top of the conference, can we strategically have some players get covid every week for the rest of the regular season and forfeit our way into the conference championship?

Re: Game on!
I actually think this is a good idea. We almost had them at the end in Logan. A possible Q1 win. BYU is a decent team this year but beatable. Hartwell should give Holmoe a call. Both teams are going through a postponement rut.isrred wrote: ↑February 9th, 2021, 10:17 amAs much as I hate playing them, get the byu-provo on the phone and get a game in the Marriott Center for another Q-1 game. Re: Game on!
Both teams come across with same answer of "well there are concerns despite regular testing, already been positive in December, and no positive tests, and we give up without officially losing a game." I give them points of taking notice of the rules and use them for W-L record to look good for recruits.hipsterdoofus21 wrote: ↑February 9th, 2021, 9:42 amWe've had no players or coaches test positive since the false positive on Saturday. It is a lame where the team forfeits without officially losing a game clause.SpectrumMagic wrote: ↑February 9th, 2021, 10:40 amAnything right now can be explained with a simple - health and safety concerns

Re: Game on!
When do people's mental health come in to play? I realize there are physical health concerns, but this has to be draining on the players and coaches as well. I can only imagine what they go through when these games are cancelled as well.SpectrumMagic wrote: ↑February 9th, 2021, 10:40 amAnything right now can be explained with a simple - health and safety concerns

Re: Game on!
There is a week before the conference tourney to make up games so some of them will likely be played but every game won't be made up.

Re: Game on!
Besides the risk of rust, I don't think it's such a bad idea to get this kind of rest before the final push. The past 2 years we finished the season on duct tape and fumes.

Re: Game on!
It's really unfortunate that this week's games aren't going to be played, it sure feels like the Pokes are trying to avoid a trip to the Spectrum. There was one positive test several days ago, and no close contacts. Every other player and coach has turned out multiple negatives since, so what's the hold up? The conference should be the one making the call in situations like this, not the schools.
These games will very likely be made up, but it will come at a much less opportune time and may come away from the Spectrum.
