Re: Rylan Jones
Considering we don’t have a scholarship for him unless someone else leaves, I do wonder if we chose Thelissen over Jones. I’m not worried about it that’s what the coaches elected to do.

Re: Rylan Jones
FWIW I spoke to someone fairly well connected to Ute basketball yesterday and he claimed he had known about Rylan becoming an Aggie for a week. These things are obviously fluid and can change, but he seemed confident Jones is heading to Logan.

Sounds to me like aggies22 got the news of where that final scholarship opening is coming from.

Yeah I’d agree. And I wouldn’t doubt if what bpd alluded to yesterday is the answer.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑May 9th, 2021, 9:08 amSounds to me like aggies22 got the news of where that final scholarship opening is coming from.

Totally forgot about him, likely because we haven’t heard anything about him. I walk back my Miller guess. This is probably it.cval wrote:Still a little curious about Potter. We just haven't heard much chatter about him at all.

So what’s the speculation? That he is headed to the U of U or entering the portal or something?Usu0505 wrote:Totally forgot about him, likely because we haven’t heard anything about him. Give it some time. Things are looking good. I’m pretty stoked he’s coming back to Logan.

Re: Rylan Jones
One random, poorly sourced individual comments on Miller's back and everyone assumes that must be it. 22 has said that isn't the case. Coach Odom said that Brock is much more than just a scorer and will play a big role in nest year's team. But for some reason, people latch onto this one stray, unreliable comment like a dog to vomit.
We've been told "no" enough times. Until it happens, or reliable news comes forth, I won't believe a bit of the idle gossip that Brock is out.

Ok that last picture of him, his sister, and his dad at USU put a smile on my face. Love to see someone come home like this.

Re: Rylan Jones
Welcome, Rylan!
As a funny aside, one constant frustration of many of us on this board was our lack of PG depth. Now we have Rylan and Eytle-Rock joining the fray.
Also, Utah has now lost Rylan (to USU) and Pelle Larsson (to AZ), currently leaving them with one PG on the roster - Rollie. Maybe lack of PG depth just follows Coach Smith everywhere (yes, I know he still have time to fill a spot).

I’m pumped for this. Losing the Montana Kid hurt, but not anymore. I love that Rylan has Cache Valley roots, amazing pickup by Coach Odom.

RJ is really more of a 2 that can play some 1, but yeah.Aggie702 wrote: ↑May 10th, 2021, 1:14 pmWelcome, Rylan!

I can already tell we are going to be a much better offensive team next year, but very likely a worse defensive team.

Re: Rylan Jones
We lost Queta, so this was unavoidable. Losing Marco just compounded the issue.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑May 10th, 2021, 1:17 pmRJ is really more of a 2 that can play some 1, but yeah.Aggie702 wrote: ↑May 10th, 2021, 1:14 pmWelcome, Rylan!

Re: Rylan Jones
Have we now learned our lesson with recruiting the state of Montana? The mold was broken with Estes and there is no need to go back there. It doesn't work out.FL350Aggie wrote: ↑May 10th, 2021, 1:16 pmI’m pumped for this. Losing the Montana Kid hurt, but not anymore. Re: Rylan Jones
Would Rylan be the best recruit we have ever had? On 247 sports it shows Zapala as our best recruit who was a high 3 star. Out of high school Rylan was a 4 star and ranked #113 in the nation and #11 PG in the nation.

Re: Rylan Jones
This is a HUGE get. Local kid, understands the program's history and culture, and fills in a big hole that we've been missing. Add him and RJ with Ashworth off the bench and we should have a very solid backcourt.
For how low things felt a month ago, we've bounced back nicely. Basketball can't come soon enough!!

Re: Rylan Jones
Welcome Rylan, i have only seen a few highlights, but this is a very solid pickup. Anybody that has watched a lot of Rylan, how does he matchup defensively? He is on the shorter end, but have not watched to know how good he is on defense.

Re: Rylan Jones
Glad he’s here. Still wondering how this happened. If someone on our current roster doesn’t hit the portal in the next day or so, best guess is that Cade Potter is not coming.
Nothing against Mr. Potter, but I’m kind of hoping this is the explanation.

Re: Rylan Jones
A foot shorter than McBuckets and 100 lbs heavier.
Also, want to see something funny? Here's the picture from 247sports sayin that he entered the transfer portal:
And now here's the picture from Deseret News saying he's transferring to USU:
Notice any differences?

Re: Rylan Jones
Here you go: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... ylan-jones
I would focus more on his first year stats. He had a shoulder injury most of his second season. I'm hoping that explains most, if not all, of the regression in the numbers from his first to second year.
