Not good start for Love

Post by AKAggie03 » June 9th, 2021, 12:39 am

Without Rodgers, the Packers gave the majority of the No. 1 quarterback reps to Jordan Love, just as they had during OTAs. Love struggled with accuracy on Tuesday, missing several throws, and failed in his only attempt at the two-minute drill.

"He needs every rep he can get right now," LaFleur said of Love. "He's a young quarterback that was not afforded a preseason last year, and so we'll give him as many as he can handle. We'll spell him every now and again, but I just think every rep that he takes is so valuable, and he can learn something from both the good and the bad."

Still waaaayyyyy toooo early to make any judgements. I doubt the Pack ever expected Love to be ready this season

Agree. I think the plan was to let Love develop a bit before throwing him out there. But if you want to believe the story on CBS Sports, the Pack's plan was to trade Rodgers in 2022.

I wouldn't believe anything from the media written about Jordan Love right now. They downplay how his talents and highlight his struggles to get more clicks from angry Packers fans who support Rodgers. Negative headlines like that are just click-bait and rarely tell the whole story. JL will be good.

NFL Live just said he was lighting it up today at practice, so does that mean we can we overreact the other way now? :)

I’m glad someone influential is noticing how tough Love has been. I can’t think of a draft pick more scrutinized before even having the chance to prove himself

All Love can do is just get better every day. I’ve got a feeling the 2 star recruit with one offer knows how to work his (I can't express myself without swearing) off and continue to develop. I’ve paid attention to only what the coaches and teammates have been saying and it’s very encouraging. The media will just overreact to every little thing he does this summer

First of all, the click baiters need to say bad stuff about Love to keep the story alive. In all likelihood, Rodgers stays out through the first couple of weeks of training camp, and then comes in and plays. This is what all of his “buddies” are saying.

The good news is, even if he does that, Love has received valuable reps and has firmly established himself as the back up. Rodgers is 38 and unlikely to play the entire season without some kind of injury. If that happens, Love will be ready.
