Is this a new one, or am I just behind the times?

Awesome. OLB per his Twitter. Class is filling up.
22 is there a 247 page yet for him?

Hopefully the coaching staff had done a complete back ground check of this kid. Would hate to find out down the road that he pushed a hurdle over in anger and took off his jersey before he left the field.

Re: Joshua Williams commit
I hope this dude is good, and this isn’t a comment about this particular guy, but we seem to be accepting commits from A LOT more of the “diamonds in the rough” types this year with no other D1 offers. Yes, you have your Bobby Wagners and Jordan Loves, but generally, you want to be landing guys that your peer schools want.
I am somewhat concerned about this.

Moore was a kid who didn’t have a lot of offers when he committed and since his commitment he has picked up several comparable offers. Hope we can hold on to him.

Re: Joshua Williams commit
Josh doesn't have a lot of offers at OLB because he is new to the position. He had been playing QB but made the move to defense because that would be his best bet to play college ball.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑June 10th, 2021, 6:39 amI hope this dude is good, and this isn’t a comment about this particular guy, but we seem to be accepting commits from A LOT more of the “diamonds in the rough” types this year with no other D1 offers. Good to hear. I also read he's 6-2, 200 pounds and runs a 4.54....definitely can work with that!

GA, while at the ewe, got a pretty good DL out of a HS QB, as I recall.aggies22 wrote: ↑June 10th, 2021, 8:30 amJosh doesn't have a lot of offers at OLB because he is new to the position. Re: Joshua Williams commit
I think one thing could be just finding these guys first. Being the first school to give a kid attention could be what it takes to get a kid to come to USU over other peer schools. Saying "We have known you would be this since day 1" may be the difference between getting a kid and not getting them. I have no issues with being the first to offer/accept the commit, so long as we know that we want the kid.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑June 10th, 2021, 6:39 amI hope this dude is good, and this isn’t a comment about this particular guy, but we seem to be accepting commits from A LOT more of the “diamonds in the rough” types this year with no other D1 offers. I agree. A lot of guys having been gaining more and more interest. I’m actually worried about keeping a lot of them over the next 6-8 months.thegreendalegelf wrote: ↑June 10th, 2021, 9:17 amI think one thing could be just finding these guys first. I'm right there with you. Holding onto some of these guys should be easier than trying to win them over in the fall but it still isn't a guarantee. Hopefully we can get some good wins/competitive play and fun crowds at the Mav to help keep them in Logan.BustaMcNutt wrote: ↑June 10th, 2021, 9:28 amI agree. Here's the thing. He didn't say he was 100% (or more) committed to USU......

Re: Joshua Williams commit
We have a load of D1 peeps who are P5 transfers. I think they are players that our peers would take anytime. I believe we are in great shape. This is a good pick up. Re: Joshua Williams commit
I wonder (without having any insight whatsoever on this or our other recent recruits) if many of these kids might have gotten high P5 offers in previous years but are not this year due to the prevalence of the transfer portal and the limited number of open scholarships? Might explain why kids are committing quickly.aggies22 wrote: ↑June 10th, 2021, 9:27 amWe've recruited him pretty hard.thegreendalegelf wrote: ↑June 10th, 2021, 9:17 amI think one thing could be just finding these guys first. I will also add the caveat that if these are the guys the coaches want here, I am going to trust their judgment until proven otherwise.

If I remember correctly, the last QB turned linebacker we took was Dave Woodward.

Stevie Smith was also a QB, though of course all 5'2 of him was better suited as a slot receiver.

Didn't we have a Basketball player recently that used to play QB??? Something about 60 yards?? No, that can't be right. Never mind.
