Re: USU Upgrades from Coke to Pepsi.
Coke > Pepsi
Diet Pepsi > Diet Coke
Used motor oil > New Coke
Sweet tea > Mt. Dew
Hefeweizen > H2O
Blood pressure medication > stroke (CVA)
Called it pop as a kid, but now call it soda!

Re: USU Upgrades from Coke to Pepsi.
Doesn't athletics have their own deal with Coke/Powerade? Just wondering if this will affect concessions (which are outsourced as well) at athletic events. The article doesn't say.NVAggie wrote:In more important news, USU is changing soft drink providers, going from Coke to Pepsi. What do you guys think? Will the inclusion of Mt. Dew help attendance ? Will the exclusion of Diet Coke take away the over 50 crowd?
EDIT: The new title was chosen by a site Admin. The title may not reflect the views of the original poster.
And of course Pepsi has to donate $500,000 to USU to get the contract. That is the only way the lower sales and revenue can make any sense. The cola wars are over and pepsi did not win. Frito would do anything to dump the drink side and focus on the salty snack side where they make most of their money.

I don't know - that's why I asked.treesap32 wrote:No, I've never seen it in fountain. Do you think that exists?AGinNEIowa wrote:I just bought a bottle last night. Have you ever seen throwback Dew in Fountain?treesap32 wrote:I hope they have throwback Dew.bigbluebaby wrote:I love Diet Mtn. Dew...
Will they have Diet and leaded?
Part of me wonders if the HFCS holds up better in the flavor syrup, and that would part of the reason they moved from sugar in the first place (in other words, did the drink companies look for an alternative for sugar to hold up better, then found HFCS would do better and ended up with the bonus of being cheaper and sweeter).
I wish they would all go back to using more sugar and less corn...

RE: Barqs with caffeine
I believe Swire Coca-Cola in Draper is the only major plant to make Barq's without caffeine. It's distribution area is AZ, CA, CO, ID, NE, NV, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY. These are likely the only states you'd see any caffeine-free Barq's. It may be mental, but I think the caffeinated version tastes better. It has more bite.
Sunkist has always had caffeine everywhere as long as I can remember.

Truly a dark day at USU. I'm all for Mt. Dew, it is what I drink 40% of the time, but I drink Coke and Coke Zero the other 60%.

Meh...I'm not on campus anymore and the only time I ever drink soda on campus is at sporting events where I refuse to pay a good chunk of my child's college future for a small cup filled 80% with ice and a few drips of soda. I'll continue to pack my own in.

I'll never get my wife to a game if she can't get a Diet Coke. I'm serious. We have a deal; I don't make her go places that don't serve Diet Coke and she doesn't make me go to parades.

Just behind those dudes wrangling that machine is the location of the worst sprained ankle I've ever had. I came out those doors and went to take those steps all in one stride and my heel hit the front lip of the last step and drove my toe into the sidewalk. My foot went back and to the inside and made a loud crack. I rolled with it but the damage was done. Instant mushroom-swelling over the top of my shoe. No bones broke, but it took about a year and a half before I could kick with that foot without pain.

This is entirely not true. Several posters (myself included) have mentioned Dr Pepper. See post numbers #17 #29 #38 #42 #47#49

Re: USU Upgrades from Coke to Pepsi.
This just feels inaccurate. In my seven years living in Utah Ive not once heard anyone call it soda. It's always been pop. Which, for the record I cant stand because it should be required to stop calling it pop after you're five. Soda is for adults who get injuries, pop is for kiddies who get owies. #truth3rdGenAggie wrote:This guy at NCSU did a cool study and made maps of the linguistic divides in America. Grew up in Sandy. The first time I ever heard it called anything other than soda was when I was in Canada and a kid from Idaho called it pop. I had no idea what he was talking about.

Re: USU Upgrades from Coke to Pepsi.
I can drink enough Mountain Dew to cause a shortage and a rise in Pepsi stock.
Dr. Pepper's fine every once in a blue moon. It's not bad, but it's not my thing.
I also remember growing up in Texas and everything was a Coke.
I call it soda.
I love Mountain Dew.

I'm really disappointed. A Coke vs Pepsi thread should have at least seven pages by now.

I'll weigh in. Coke and Pepsi are both meh. Diet Coke is straight nasty ( unless you're a woman 35+, apparently. Then you pretty much run on that stuff, neh?)
Mounty Dew is the nectar of the Gods, wish they would get LiveWire on tap. Dr. Pepper is also extremely delicious. And call it like you're supposed to: so-dee pahp

Re: USU Upgrades from Coke to Pepsi.
Cherry Dr Pepper is better.
But honestly, I used to prefer Coke. Never much liked Pepsi, but I'd drink it if it was the only cola. I've never been in the habit of drinking more than one or two a day, though. Right now, I only have soda about once a month.
