There are at least 9 kids expected to sign. Hopefully we get a surprise or two!

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Shaw, Medina and Dana are all preferred walk-ons. I'm not sure why they are announcing them as signed. I've always been under the impression that coaches couldn't talk about players unless they were signed but perhaps I missed a rule change somewhere.

Yes, so far the three commits that are in are Deven Thompkins, Karene Reid and Chris Nash.

Re: Link to 2018 Signing Day Central (7 In) (UPDATED 9:50 am)
So it looks like we're down to just Kyle Jones and Mekhi Garner - two 3* guys that have yet to sign?

Every indication I had been given was that Garner was planning to sign with us today.

I know we had a lot of success with the early signing period, but this signing day seems the most uneventful ever
Just another day in the (Aggie) Brotherhood

Re: Link to 2018 Signing Day Central (FINAL)
I was about to ask what everyone's initial impression is of this signing class. The two 3-star guys weren't even expected until very recently so I don't feel like we missed on them all that much. I wasn't all that excited about the prospect of adding yet another 5'-10" 195 lb. RB to the fold. I do like the early OL signings, especially combined with the couple of OL guys from last year's class. I am pretty disappointed in our ability to attract top skill position players though. We are still in need of a bigger back that can pound the ball.
I sort of feel like our two transfers are the highlight of this signing class, which concerns me in the long term outlook. Obviously we won't know for sure until a few years have passed but how does everyone else feel about this class?

I think the "meh"ness of today is overshadowing the excitement we had in the early signing period. I'm more stoked about this class than any in recent memory.

What's the deal with Easton Peterson ... he shows as a PWO, but there's no detail given on his commitment or signing of grant-in-aid or whatever they give those guys.
Oversight?

Re: Link to 2018 Signing Day Central (FINAL)
Coach Wells explained in an interview with my colleague Isaac Draxler that they are able to announce guys like Mitch Medina, Will Dana and Karter Shaw because they have already been ADMITTED to USU. That's why there is no mention Peterson or the CB from Washington Sam Lockett.
Here's a link to the interview: (The guy speaking over everyone is some kid from the Trib.)
