Re: Summer international basketball
Should be a great opportunity for the team to get used to Calhoun and the new staff. Hopefully it’ll help them avoid a preseason let down against a mediocre team.

Are you surprised that many of the people involved with that decision are no longer there?trevordude wrote: ↑May 10th, 2024, 10:00 pmWhat were they thinking? Like that's a career ending decision.

Re: I am not sure why SUU left the Big Sky
it was a stupid move by SUU. I remember at the time it was a very stupid and short sighted move by SUU. The Big Sky won't be taking them back. That I don’t know for sure. I do know they had aspirations to be the next BSU, or UNR and would have jumped at any FBS potential. Yet they had so many depar...

Losing, apathy towards excellence, and celebrating when down huge are not exactly the marks required for success. Accountability brings results, I feel that was lost after 2021.

Re: Mason Falslev basketball camp
I bet there was 200 kids there. He’s doing 2 more 200 kids at $50 head = $10,000. Divide by 8. Not bad for a couple hours work. Even if they had some out of pocket costs to reserve the school, they likely each pocketed over a grand. Unless Mason kept the bigger cut lol. This is how I would say NIL ...

I worked with him at SUU. He’s got a good vision, wants players with a motor mindset. Impressive coach, probably should have been at UNLV instead of SUU. I think he’s solid as can be if it is him.

Aaron Johnston at South Dakota State would be a great get but after 24 seasons there and tons of success, I’m not sure he’d leave considering he hasn’t left yet despite all his success. Molly Miller at Grand Canyon has done nothing but win. She’d be a great candidate. I think there are 3-4 Big Sky ...

Re: WBB Coaching Candidates
I mentioned this in another thread but I think John Wardenburg might be worth a look. Has a pretty good resume and worked with men’s basketball at SUU under Todd Simon and has had a stint with Women’s at that school past Utah Valley. (There are likely other candidates who may be better) but I think ...

The more I look at John Wardenberg, at BYU, the more he could be a great hire. Maybe for a few years until he retires and passes it off to someone else. Good resume. Plus he is a USU alum (Master's Degree) https://byucougars.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/season/2023-2024/staff/john-wardenburg...

Re: USU Women's Bball
I know we hate that school in Provo, but they have an assistant John Wardenburg who I personally know who i think could be a good fit as a dark horse type candidate. I don’t think he’s been a D1 head coach but was on SUUs mens staff prior to moving to the Provo school. It appears taking one of their...

Taking third in a meet with SJSU and AF is a big yikes from me. Air Force performed way over their season average. In facet going into the meet we were ranked at least ten spots higher than them and two above sjsu if I remember correctly. Definitely a yikes performance. Air Force typically is behin...

I agree about the lights at Bell Field. I also think Softball could use them as well. Back to Gymnastics I’ve noticed we haven’t had as many great scores under Smith. Re: Ref Debate
Wasn’t the worst reffed game but it wasn’t great either. Several calls had the wrong team getting the ball out of bounds. Clear on replay as it was from the stands. Lots of elbows clearing out space in the paint and several clear travels. Luckily we were able to make our foul shots. CSU probably win...

I may be behind the times here, but does anyone know why team stats aren't being shown on the ring below the jumbotron and why individual player fouls and poitns aren't being shown in the two corners where they have been previously? Right now there are sponsor signs in those areas instead of the st...

They’ve posted a couple wins and beat Weber. I remember working an embarrassing loss to Dixie under Finkbeiner. Yet I’m still worried that they’ll still have a ton of struggles.

Re: Does our team have a “role” problem?
I think in the term of being a team that’s only played 3 games together as a group, they’re all still trying to mesh together. We’re starting to see some chemistry, although today you could tell Sprinkle had to go away from his typical plan. We had to go small ball due to the foul trouble on SUUs bi...

Re: We won
This was a tough game Southern Utah hitting everything early and non-stop fouls. We made mistakes, but we won against a team that looked like a team that could be in the NCAA tournament. SUU is & will be a middle of the road Big Sky team that won’t make the ncaa tournament. WAC Team. They left the ...

Let them boo. Everyone in the stadium knows you don’t hit the punter, unless he’s running the ball. It’s unsportsmanlike and as a previous poster mentioned, should be treated similarly to targeting.

Re: Woah, we are the dark horse to win the MWC
If we are, we’re an extremely dark horse. It’s a down year for most of the teams we play, but it seems like WYO and AF are very much in the drivers seat. Yet somehow the years we’ve made it Boise and AF have lost to let us in. As long as we JFW we have a good shot.
