Re: Proposed Group of 5 Playoff

Every decision being made about the future of the college sports is being driven by the rich who will simply get richer. The amount of money being unleashed on college sports will further the divide. That is not going to change and is not good news for USU.

I concur that he is a definite upgrade over Jackson. However, other than being very excited about hanging on to our core from last year, I am underwhelmed by almost every other move. I’m genuinely curious about why? I’ve been super excited about every portal addition. That is good news that you fee...

Holy damn this one hurts. I said before that Booth was the biggest loss by a country mile. Now watching Faison follow him hurts that much more. I honestly don't get what these guys are thinking? He was basically guaranteed a starting job at RB at a school that has had more RBs drafted in the NFL th...

Just a reminder to all the Blake Anderson Defenders. Once is Happenstance, Twice is coincidence, Three times is a pattern. You're right, it IS Blake Anderson. It I was advising Rashul, I would tell him that this was a very poor decision. Yes, you might be making a few thousand more dollars at another location. That said, with Booth gone, you were going to be the bell cow, possibly paving the way for an NFL career. Now you venture into the unknown. Lots o...

Re: Current State of USU Basketball

One thing I really hope Calhoun that doesn’t miss is that part of USU’s secret sauce seems to be finding overlooked local kids to be a part of the team. There just seems to be some aspect of having a local kid that while he may be a little less talented or undersized on a relative scale, they have ...

I'm surprised that Javon Jackson entered the portal and hasn't indicated that he'll be back yet. Is there any prevailing thought on if he's gone gone or just in the portal for now? I'm fairly certain that BA also has a "no return" policy once a player enters the portal. I get why he does that but I wonder if Coop leaving has him rethinking that with Hillstead. Can't make exceptions. Once you make an exception for one kid, another will expect the same treatment. I completely a...

If byu pulls off this Kevin Young hire that’s a great get for them. He was a finalist for the Nets job, is highly respected, and is considered to be on the fast track to an NBA head coaching job. Chris Burgess was very underwhelming. But Kevin Young is a different ballgame. I still dont get the lov...

My son played for Daniels at UVU. Good coach and good buy but I guess I was looking for a little bigger splash and pedigree. Getting the right assistants is a huge part of being a successful head coach at the D1 level and that is becoming increasingly critical with the transfer portal and NIL. More ...

Re: Hillstead Transferring

Disappointing for sure. I am in the camp that Hillstead had the best upside of any QB we have right now. It would have been surprising if one of them didnt move on after spring ball but I was hoping it would not be Hillstead. We definitely need to find someone for next year instead of Barnes IMO.

There is zero chance they can afford Madsen's buyout. Maybe had he not signed an extension after the season, but no way they can do it now. Scotty suggested Barrett Peery. With Madsen out. All their top canidates are guys we would not even pick up the phone for. Burgess is the best option and at this point of his career might be considered for openings at WAC or big sky schools.

Crazy.

We offered him triple what he was paid at Montana State, so he came to Logan. Why are we surprised he would change schools when a school provides him triple what we're paying him? Great has several "launch points" in his arsenal, he doesn't need to shoot over top of his defender. I’m guessing Pope is severely underpaid by Big 12 standards, there is always the “calling” factor at YBU. I wonder if Pope is finally seeing the dollar signs though.. He is underpaid if you only count what he gets from BYU as an institution, but just like football, there is a lot more salary coming...
