Re: Queta
Any word on Klay Stall and his recovery? If healthy and Queta leaves I think he'll be in the running for the starting job. If Queta remains in the draft, the coaching staff will try and bring in a grad transfer big man. A grad transfer would expect immediate playing time so this tells me they see K...

Re: Projecting Next Season's Depth Chart
This is really Smith's 1st recruiting class that he should be judged on. So far he gets an A and he still has one to go. If Karwowski turns into a good D1 C, then Smith gets an A+, if there is such a thing

Re: Projecting Next Season's Depth Chart
Just to add to the discussion, Coach Smith said at the Scottsdale roadshow that he thinks Bairstow will eventually play PG but didn’t think he would be ready by this season to handle that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Not saying it won't happen, but doubt that Bairstow will play any point here....

Tough crowd is right. If Smith does next year what he did this year, he's gone. We should at least enjoy it while we have it.

Re: 13 = 13 Status
Karwowski is a C. At least that's what it says a couple of times on the official announcement. One time in real big letters at the top, 7'2" - 230 LB - C, so it's like the staff is making it clear what spot he's going to play here. The team needs another PG, but as has been said, it has to be a good...

Re: On campus recruit (Jakub Karwowski)
Thanks for that article, it explains a lot. He was 1st team all Region 9, and there are close to 20 JC teams in that region. He played against a number of players who went D1 from Region 9 and were being watched by D1 coaches. So he is a known player.

Re: On campus recruit
He runs the floor very well for someone his size. He's active underneath, jumps just fine, rebounds, blocks shots. They didn't let him shoot from outside, so that's an unknown. He almost averaged a double/double, and if we can find a big post this late who did that in heavily guard oriented JC ball,...

He shot 70.6% from the field last season. He didn't shoot that much, about 6 shots per game, but that's still impressive.

Home visit mid last week and then they watched him in kc last week. Ive read up some on that event in kc last week and no one mentions as skogman as someone that stood out. So apparently our coaches weren’t the only ones unimpressed. Btw the coaching staff also was in kc to watch mady Sissoko. Siss...

Re: Nebraska’s Heiman in the portal
Recruiting has been interesting this spring. It appears we have had a lot of swing and misses. The latest was David Skogland who committed to Buffalo yesterday and Isaac Bonton who committed to Washington State yesterday. It seems like the coaches have been upping their social media game as well, I...

Anderson has been updated in 247 to the number 13 jc player. https://247sports.com/college/utah-state/Season/2019-Basketball/Commits/ Things just keep getting better! Re: Hoops Spring Signing Period Begins Today
Regardless of the level McChesney played at in Canada, I think he would've been the 2nd best PF in Utah HS basketball this past season at any level, behind only Isaac Johnson from American Fork who committed to Oregon, but ahead of Bernardo Da Silva from Wasatch Academy who committed to BYU. We have...

Re: Jake Toolson
He's a very good player, his stats are impressive, and he had a number of awards, but the positional needs of the team are more important. If the staff decides he fits what we need, they know all about him. If they decide that a PG is needed more, they'll go that way.

Re: Up-date North Idaho College
The basketball team has something good going on right now. It has amazing chemistry. I doubt Smith would want to mess that up by bringing in Evans who went back on a commitment. But not only that, Evans had to throw the comment out there that he did it because he thought he could do better. Well, he...

I don't agree with your opinion and told you so. That isn't an attack. Expecting everyone to agree with you and give you positive feedback on here would be ludicrous. But it wouldn't be ludacris.

It's doubtful we'll see tough rebounding and defense under Duryea like we saw under Stew, until his last 5 years or so. Duryea does not like or coach that kind of basketball. Duryea's teams are more like the last few under Stew. Duryea likes his bigs to be able to handle it, pass it, shoot the three...

I just believe that, most importantly WE WILL NOT GO 1-11, that's just ludacris! I do believe that even if we have a poor season, we will definitely improve over last year and we will not lose MW. He will get a chance to prove himself in the 2018 season and possibly beyond. He's not completely bad,...

Coaches either have it or they don't. Coaches don't go from bad to great. Watching the Aggies the last couple of years has been painful. They run a terrible offense. They don't understand how to get easy buckets. Seems like everything they do looks somehow oversimplified and complicated. Hard to wa...

Re: Janicek out with Knee Injury
That knee injury could really diminish Janicek's explosiveness. Pre-injury, he had moved with the cat-like lightning quickness of a 38-years-young Arvydas Sabonis. Post-injury, he may look more like Sabonis at 45. Janicek's explosiveness last year was similar to that of a constipated turtle. Man we...

An NCAA Letter of Intent is binding for one year, no longer. It's a contract for one year between player and university, that's it. There's nothing more to it. If a player doesn't like the program, and feels he can do better, he's free to leave as long as he fulfills the requirements and/or pays any...

So Duryea hired Louis Wilson and Wilson was able to convince Koby McEwen to come to USU. Ok. So if Duryea wouldn't have hired Wilson, would McEwen be here. Not likely. While depending on assistants, a head coach should be able to stand on his own. To be able to seal the deal when it comes to recruit...
