Re: PAC12 Players "strike." A different perspective

I tend to agree with swordsman. The vast majority of the student athletes who are playing college sports today are still going to go to college and they'll still want to play their sport, they just won't get paid to do it. The level will be somewhere between club sports and where it is today, which ...

Re: Foul, three shots for the shooter

Anyone see the play in the first half where Queta stepped out of bounds on a dunk??He was in by at least a foot. I rewound it to watch it again to see if I had missed something because I couldn't believed he called that. It wasn't even close and the camera was on him the whole play until he finishe...

It seems like it's always bad karma whenever we're popular with the talking head crowd. IIRC, we the dark horse darling going in to the Marquette game and came out and laid an egg. Interestingly enough, according to this site http://mcubed.net/ncaab/seeds.shtml, 8 seeds actually have a winning record against 4 and 5 seeds if they can get past the #1, which happens about 20% of the time.

I had the same impression. I hadn't really noticed the refs until the last few minutes. It seemed to me like SDSU was getting away with a ton of hard hand checking once they started putting the heavy pressure on. It was very physical, but the Ags adjusted to it eventually.

Just weighing in because I think this is an awesome debate. While I understand your point Android, I don't think it's unreasonable to call athletes and coaches mercenaries. War imagery and terminology is used abundantly in all levels of athletics without regard to the actual underlying meaning. Very...

I had the same situation a couple of years ago, although it was my wife's nephew so I didn't really have much of a relationship with the kid. I was planning to pretend to cheer for him if he made a good play, but not that deep down I wanted them to lose every game. Unfortunately for him he injured h...

You're right the double teaming did play into it, but it seems like they had a lot of open looks even when we weren't doubling Haas. I just expected that with our athleticism we should be able to close out better than we did.

Re: I expected us to lose, but not this bad

I have no idea if it was a conspiracy or not, but a tightly called game is going to favor Purdue. When you're undersized in the post, especially against a guy as skilled as Haas, the only way to give yourself a chance is physicality. You have to be able to try and push him off of his spots and get i...

I posted a couple of months back after seeing him play live. I'm also in the camp that he's getting too much hate here. Rather have a strong 6'8" player with no post moves or 3 pt shot, who only scores on layups, put backs, and dunks, gets off the floor high and quick, rebounds hard, and plays d, than a 6'11" player with good post moves, lacking in quickness, gets pushed around underneath, and can't get off the floo...

Went down to Snow last night to visit my son and went to the game against USU-E. You're right SSS, I'm probably not doing a great job explaining my point. From 2000-2008, the team largely depended on one high-volume shooter (Tony Brown and JC) with ...

It's a two-way street. If the inside threat isn't there, which it hasn't been since Tai Wesley, then the defenders never need to collapse off of the shooter. We had about six straight years of having a consistent inside scoring threat ending with Wesley where the need for more shooters as a complim...

FCS schools are the only ones that will agree to play one-off games on the road. That offsets our one-off money games. SB is trying to make sure we have six home games every year and that's the only way to do it if we play money games.

So, at what point should the whistle be blown? After 6 seconds or 10? After reviewing the last minute of the game, a few observations: NOBODY blocked out on Davies' shot with 30+ seconds left. Every single player made a beeline straight for the hoop.
