Who The Hell Cares Game - this week features two D3 top 20 teams from the NorthEast Region - a rivalry game in the Finger Lakes area of New York State. Separated by less than 21 miles, the Cortaca Jug game has become one of the great rivalry games in small college football. Ithaca leads the all-time series 41-33-3 and 37-24 in 60 Cortaca Jug games. The match-up is one of the most prominent in small college football. The Cortaca game typically sells out, with thousands of fans packed into see the game and many more watching at viewing parties across the country. The 2019 Cortaca Jug Game was held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ and set an NCAA single game attendance record of 45,161.
The State University of New York -Cortland Red Dragons are ranked #16 in last week's D3 Football Top 25 Poll with a record of 8-1 after last week's win vs Brockport which completed their undefeated season in the Empire 8 Conference. This is the Red Dragons' third straight conference title, and automatic bid to the NCAA D3 Football Tournament. Cortland's lone loss this season came when they were featured in Week 3's WTHCG at home vs Susquehanna 35-38 (now ranked #11 and undefeated 9-0). The Red Dragons are outscoring their opponents by average of 51.33-15.0 per game.
The Ithaca College Bombers are ranked #15 with an 8-1 record after last week's win on the road vs St Lawrence to complete their second straight undefeated Liberty League season to qualify for the NCAA D3 Football Playoffs. The Bombers' lone loss this season was in week 1 when they lost on the road to Johns Hopkins 17-27 (now ranked #8 and undefeated at 9-0). The Bombers are outscoring their opponents by average of 28.56-12.0 per game.
