Thanks 22. So do we feel this is about a par replacement for Hillstead?

On paper, I think so. In reality, who knows. Petras is the starter and CJ is now the heir apparent. If he accepts that role and is happy to be the 2025 starter - awesome. If he gets recruited over or wants out he'll be gone a year from now.

It’ll be a fun battle between Tiller and Barnes for backup this season

We'll be adding one more QB to that battle.

He 100% understands the starting gig belongs to Petras. This is about positioning for the 2025 gig.

Looks like a solid pickup. Hopefully he can be patient and be ready to compete for the starting job this coming spring

When is the last time we had a QB last the whole year? We need a good back up.

Looks like an upgrade over entitled brat who went to provo. Excited to see how he does. Has a chance to work his way to #2, and possibly see the field this year. Hopefully he’ll be really good and we can keep him around for 3 more years.

If that’s actually the case, I’m worried for the future of our quarterback position

It could be worse, it could be Tiller vs. Barnes for the starter this year.

This go around with us looking for a kid to come just be a backup insurance policy, our options were limited on who we could get. When we are in the market for a starter next go around, we will have more of an ability to attract a starting quality quarterback.
