4,500 season ticket sales so far
http://bit.ly/1c6x9jF
So far this season, the school has already sold 4,500 season ticket packages, well above average. According to Jana Doggett, executive associate athletics director, sales are trending up in both new sales and renewals.
"We’re ahead of our normal sales coming into July more than any other year. Because we’re performing well and we have a better schedule going into the Mountain West, it’s kind of a perfect storm."

In 2011 and 2012, Aggie basketball delivered more than $700,000 in ticket revenue, while football in the same years didn’t reach the half-million mark.

Is the 4,500 the basketball number? That is an increase from the 4,000 in basketball last year. If we're 1,500 above last years pace according to Barnes... that would mean 3,000 last season. Also, the push is currently for BB tickets.

Re: 4,500 season ticket sales so far
Why would the 4,000 season ticket holders from last year who have already paid the BBSF donation for football wait to send the ticket office $220. The schedule is A LOT BETTERthan last year. I expect at least an additional 1,000 season tickets to total 5,000. 4,500 could happen less than two months before the renewal deadline.QuackAttackAggie wrote:Football. Re: 4,500 season ticket sales so far
We didn't have 4,000 season tickets for basketball last year. That was 2011. I think we were at 3,000ish last year IIRC. Doubt we sell 150% that amount 4 months before the season begins. In fact, the article says that 4,000 is the goal. 4,500 in basketball would be great, but that is almost all the ticketed seatsFull wrote:Why would the 4,000 season ticket holders from last year who have already paid the BBSF donation for football wait to send the ticket office $220. Re: 4,500 season ticket sales so far
4500 sounds very low. I've talked to folks in the Athletics Department and heard Scott Barnes talk about our numbers and I thought we were closer to 8-9K already, but maybe that is where we'll end up based on the trend and renewal rate, and 4500 is the current number? sounds very low. Barnes has said the goal is 15K, but I think it's 10K for this season.

Re: 4,500 season ticket sales so far
New Conference, way better schedule, 11 win team, many great players returning, being talked about in the same sentence as Boise State.. .............and an embarrassing, pathetic 4500 season tickets so far? That is the most disappointing thing I have heard for a long time. If anyone tries to tell me that we are doing well with ticket sales...they for sure can't convince me. 4500 a month away from the season is inexcusable. I would think that 8000 should be a little on the low side. Geeeeesh! What do you have to do?
The only thing that would make me feel better is that it was true that they said packages, and that would double, at least, the actual number of seats sold. In the past they announced number of actual tickets sold. Big difference.

Is this information accurate? Just last summer, someone on here reported over 7,500 season ticket holders in 2012.
Is mcaggie1's understanding correct that Jana is just reporting "packages" and not total seats sold?

The article says a lot are purchased in GA closer to the season. I assume almost everybody buys at least 2 tickets, so it'd be surprising if we had 9k+ tickets now with a big push coming again in August.BearLakeMonster wrote:Is this information accurate? If the 4500 number is correct, it would reinforce what I've thought all along - that the Cache Valley will not support Aggie Football. Most people there would rather complain about having a bad football team than support a good football team - it's much easier. the built-in excuses for not supporting USU (poor product on the field, history of losing, bad visting teas, teams with no history of playing USU, etc.) are no longer viable. The University has held up it's end of the bargain by showing a huge commitment to athletics, the coaches have done their part, the players have done their part. The good people of Cache Valley really don't care. They will continue to watch the Cougs on TV.

While the number may not be where it could be, I'm surprised people are so upset over news that we are well ahead of any previous year in season ticket sales this year. Progress is progress my friends, and I'm excited for that.

Re: 4,500 season ticket sales so far
I can't believe the negativity on this thread! A wise man once told me "the great wall of China wasn't built overnight." A person doesn't simply become a football fan(or an Aggie fan for that matter) based on one good season. The "success" in ticket sales many of you are looking for aren't going to happen unless we string together at least a few more seasons like last year.
Why don't we look at the progress and be happy that the foundation for that great wall has been laid? Complaining about the people who haven't bought tickets isn't going to encourage them to do so.

Re: 4,500 season ticket sales so far
I really think the majority of season tickets aren't sold until right before the season. Take my brother in law for example, he will do like he did last year and buy 5 season tickets at the fall scrimmage. Not to mention my family added 7 season tickets this year that we didn't have last. I feel that even with a great team these first few years of good football only the diehards will buy early. The rest will buy as the season gets closer. Most people aren't thinking about football when its 100 degrees outside.

Re: 4,500 season ticket sales so far
Pathetic! Just compare us with the University of Montana. We have Boise State and BYU coming to town and they have nearly 5x the demand for season tickets with Oklahoma Panhandle State as their opener. It's time to step things up in the Cache Valley!

4500 season ticket sales to date is nonsense. The west side below the concourse
Is all but sold out. Last years # was bout 7500. 10000 is a hopeful number. The Tribune
Article last mentioned 15000 (bs). I'll predict near 10000 when we're done.

I bought three season tickets today, I'm hoping to still buy two more before the season starts, I am confident we will easily set an attendance record this year (23,000+ per game). The wife and I went up to the stadium this evening and wow the new facilities are great.

Not just the west side below the concourse but the whole west side is pretty much full right? So I've heard and I played with the ticket website and it seems to be the case. How many does the west side hold anyway?Aggieup2 wrote:4500 season ticket sales to date is nonsense. The west side below the concourse

I think the article is quoting outdated information. The quote right after the 4,500 number was mentioned, uses the words "coming into July" which means the conversation happened sometime in June. Let's remember the article came from the Des News, and they are always a month behind.QuackAttackAggie wrote:http://bit.ly/1c6x9jF

What a fabulous deduction your "wise man" made. True rocket science! I know, I know, he was telling you that all great things take time. Well I don't buy this one this time. We have seen the continual progress coming the past 4 years in not only commitment, but facilities, and with the team itself. I am getting old, and I don't have a thousand years for the Aggie Wall to be built. Another wise man said, "make hay while the sun shines." The sun is shining NOW!!! The season is nearly upon us. I don't think we can afford to sit back and hope the AGGIES have four more good years before we buy season tickets. You go watch your wall being built. Me? I am headed to Logan on Saturdays this fall because if I stay home and wait for a wall to be built, I am gonna miss a ton of excitement. Actually I know you will be there too, but there needs to be a lot more. A lot more

Re: 4,500 season ticket sales so far
The original point. That is, we have way too few season tickets sold. The point was made that people want to wait and see if we continue to improve and have success before they will get on board as STH's. I am saying why not now. Yes we are a little ahead of last year, but way below what we should be.

So what can we do to ensure that people don't want to wait and see. Marketing ventures? More sales calls? Discounts? Advertising? Visiting high schools, middle schools, or elementary schools?
I feel like we're doing more than we've done in the past decade or so to encourage football season tickets. I'm curious to know what else you think should be done.

That's just it tree sap, we are doing a great job administratively, and on the field. My only frustrations are twofold, one is not nearly enough, IMO, season tickets sold, and two, the attitude that was suggested that we still need to wait and see if USU continues its success before we come to games.

Re: 4,500 season ticket sales so far
The solution to this problem will be when people can't get tickets to half the games this year. People love to "brag about" going to the exclusive event. If one game in addition to BYU and Boise sells out people will realize they can't wait to purchase tickets. Once people realize they have to buy in advance they will, but not sooner. The Aggies are cooler... just look at all the USU gear displayed.
All other references I have seen point to almost 10,000 season tickets by the Weber State game. With 10,000 season tickets and six thousand students it makes it a lot easier to sell those remaining 9500.

Re: 4,500 season ticket sales so far
I'm surprised that mcaggie and others are continuing in their complaining even after it has been pointed out that the number is packages and that the number is a month old. Packages could and probably do include multiple tickets. Most everyone I know has 4 tickets or more. Some will have more and some less but the point is, 4500 packages gives us no real indication as to the actual number of tickets sold and this was at least a month ago. Cool your jets. Keep your complaining and negative ways to yourself unless you have some actual numbers that you would like to discuss. It may be the case as you say, very few tickets sold and you may have a point. The thing is, 4500 is NOT the number of ticket sales. Go find the true number and if its low, come back with all your complaining. We'll listen then.

Re: 4,500 season ticket sales so far
Season ticket sales are great to gauge future attendance when there are more detailed information released. The article says that ticket packages have increased. I would imagine that a ticket package is one transaction. I bought two season tickets last year but this year I bought 4 season tickets. I would assume that both are considered one ticket package? Who knows?! All I know its one month till kickoff and my Aggie blood is pumping strong.
