No it's legit. it's been 100% announced officially on twitter.
I'll be kind of bummed if BYU hires Sitake. I also have to think Ken Niumatalolo from Navy is a very serious candidate for the job (if he would take it).

Re: Byu related: Bronco Mendenhall to UVA
Just confirmed as official from UVA. Surprising.
PS - we don't have to worry about Wells to BYU (he's not LDS - Head Coach needs to be Mormon).
Since BYU keeps salaries private, no way to know what Bronco was making, but I'm guessing $$ is part of the reason for the jump.

Wowsers.
I'd say it was the 11 years of firesides that did him in, but no matter where he goes now he'll get asked to do those.

Wow...the only viable options that will satisfy the crazies over there are buying out Silane Sitake or outbidding Navy for a coach that runs the triple option. That's what happens when you try and make your coach a missionary I guess...lolaggieguy13 wrote:Norm Chow is available.
My bet is on Sitake...and I think it will be a good hire for them.

This is interesting. It seems like a step down from the 1984 national champions. But he wasn't that great of a coach anyway. We've got assistant coaches that were probably going to take his spot sooner than later. Guess he decided he doesn't want the Lord on his side anymore --

I love the Andersen counter argument that "He isn't active in the church."kkalian311 wrote: They also say Gary Andersen and Kyle Whittingham.......

Up until today I didn't know that people of other faiths could qualify as inactive.

Anybody know what kind of $ he was making? My first thought was... crap there goes Sitake. Who knows though... Can't blame him for wanting to get the crap out of Provo and coaching those #thugmormons haha..

Are you sure that Andersen isn't/wasn't Mormon at one time? Seems like he was.SectionBAggie wrote:I love the Andersen counter argument that "He isn't active in the church."kkalian311 wrote: They also say Gary Andersen and Kyle Whittingham.......

He is mormon on paper. In that his name is still on the attendance rolls that are passed around every week, but is never marked cause he is never there. And you have to be more than just a member on paper to be BYU's head coach, you have to be a temple recommend holder.AgMac wrote:Are you sure that Andersen isn't/wasn't Mormon at one time? "My parents were LDS (Church of Latter-day Saints), but I'm not LDS, I'm just straight Christian," he said. "My boys went to Catholic high schools. I thought it was great for them to be in that environment. I don't go to church much. I have my own set of beliefs. I do what I do."
That doesn't mean that he hasn't been baptized but he doesn't identify as a member of the LDS church.

Yeah that's what I call being a member "on paper". Every ward has a few people like that.ProvoAggie wrote:From a press conference at Oregon State:AgMac wrote:Are you sure that Andersen isn't/wasn't Mormon at one time? Re: Byu related: Bronco Mendenhall to UVA
Does anyone know how to upload a resume to the byu athletic department?
Joking aside, this certainly surprised me. But I guess it shouldn't have. Brandon Doman was just on 1280 saying that Bronco has been looking for other opportunities for several years now. I'm sure that OSU was on his radar last year. Makes me think that perhaps the popular rumor on here that Wells was heading to OSU before Andersen stepped in might be a load of .

Re: Byu related: Bronco Mendenhall to UVA
Logical candidates seem to be:
Ken Niumatalolo (Navy HC) - Longshot yes, but still a chance.
Darrell Bevell (Seahawks OC) - Another longshot but his seat has been getting warm in Seattle and you never know what
someone's goals are.
Lance Anderson (Stanford DC)
Robert Anae (BYU OC)
Kilani Sitake (Oregon state DC)
* Note- Several BYU fans are also mentioning Kyle Whittingham and there were were plenty of rumors about it last year. Some thought Whittingham started the rumors himself for leverage for more $$ but it was all over the media. I for one think it's a huge longshot that happens.

Why is Kyle Whittingham a laughing name? He did play his college ball at BYU and started his coaching career there. I agree it would be a backward step but not out of the equation.
My guess, Kyle to BYU, Gary to Utah.

I agree that is the list... But I don't see anyone there as good as bronco. Maybe Niumatalolo but do you really think fans want the triple option in Provo. I don't like bronco but he was a damn good coach on the D side. Plus byu isn't a easy job
