Disappointed in Facebook Coverage
I thought the facebook stream was just short of awful. There was virtually no ambient noise from the stadium, so for the most part it sounded like two guys by themselves in an empty room, trying to do a play by play. Then the field reporter spent more time giving us her bio at Stonybrook...we find out she was on scholarship, lettered basketball, is a shooter, was elected homecoming queen....it never ends. Last year at least they did specials on Aggie Ice Cream, Wind Caves, Eberle's amazing game etc. And tons of dead air space where there was absolute total silence.

Re: Disappointed in Facebook Coverage
That was the worst Facebook stream we've ever had. In years past there was only 1 Mountain West Facebook game per week. Today there were three. We got a guy that had never called a game before and I'm sure we had a third string production crew as well. Audio issues all night. Crowd noise was non existent. 15-20 second awkward silences throughout the game. Refs audio was disconnected from the feed in the second half. Showed the wrong replays multiple times even tricking the announcers into saying that the Warren fumble was the worst call they have ever seen.
I hope they get back to their normal production value because this was really, really bad.

This was a massive downgrade from last year in production quality.

Refs audio may not have been their fault. It was bad in the stadium most of the game, too

Absolutely atrocious production. Too bad, because I really enjoyed last year’s Facebook games.

Even better was the MW chick on the sideline telling fans they were being unsportsmanlike and to shut up. All because we were booing #20 for his shenanigans after the hit.
Even his own coach was trying to shut him up and pull him off the field

Yeah, it was horrible. I get that USU vs Stony Brook isn't anybody's idea of a blockbuster game, but come on. What do we have to do to get in ESPN?

Al Lewis said the Warren fumble was bogus too. That he was down and then popped up to toss it to the refs and SB reacted like a fumble.

Our game against StonyBrook was streamed over the internet and I could see pretty clearly what was happening. I'm good.

You are complaining about a production that aired the usu game in crystal clear picture for free? A game usu fans didn’t have to pay a single penny to anyone to watch?tinplater wrote: ↑September 7th, 2019, 9:26 pmI thought the facebook stream was just short of awful. Re: Disappointed in Facebook Coverage
Because it's free to me I can't complain? (and someone is paying someone...you think they walked all that gear here for nothing?) Come on, it was free and excellent last year and I truly enjoyed it. This year's broadcast was a disaster and College Stadium and Mountain West Conference should be made aware of that.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑September 8th, 2019, 7:23 amYou are complaining about a production that aired the usu game in crystal clear picture for free? Re: Disappointed in Facebook Coverage
Just remember San Jose had no way to see their game last week. This is miles above that or a construction camera, but from the sound Facebook third string wasn’t good.Roy McAvoy wrote:You are complaining about a production that aired the usu game in crystal clear picture for free? Re: Disappointed in Facebook Coverage
I think the real problem is that many felt last year's stream from Facebook was well done. This year hasn't lived up to those expectations.

Reading this thread is like going to McDonald's and complaining about the food. What do you expect, it's FB. Worse than last year, sure. It's FB. It's video and it you for sure know more than the announcers knew. All good. Be grateful you could watch it for those who couldn't attend the game.

Re: Disappointed in Facebook Coverage
It would be like going to McDonald's if McDonald's somehow served excellent prime rib every day last year that beat out the more established, nice, sit down restaurants and then this year suddenly switched back to soggy fries and day old burgers.IdaAg93 wrote: ↑September 12th, 2019, 10:56 amReading this thread is like going to McDonald's and complaining about the food. That's why people were surprised. The product was excellent last year. I actually preferred it to CBSSN and ESPN games. The third stringers for this game weren't as good.
Am I happy to have stream? Of course! Was the production quality up to par even for Facebook standards? Not at all.

Re: Disappointed in Facebook Coverage
I disagree. This isn't just McDonald's. This was a professional job all last year. This year they spread to thin. This is expecting McDonalds and having it be training day for every single employee in the building and no management training them. I don't think people went in with high expectations for the broadcast but they certainly didn't clear the minimum expectations.IdaAg93 wrote: ↑September 12th, 2019, 10:56 amReading this thread is like going to McDonald's and complaining about the food. Does anyone know how these facebook games work out? Do we pay Stadium to show them on Facebook? Otherwise, how in the world does Stadium make any money on them?

ESPN Prime Time and CBS are major league, CBS Sports Network is like AA ball, Facebook is the Cape Cod or Alaska League where college kids play in the summer.

Re: Disappointed in Facebook Coverage
Was grateful I could watch it, but compared to last year it was very disappointing. It's the only game in town, as it were, so we are stuck with what we get, but it would be nice if solid criticism would have some effect upon future productions.IdaAg93 wrote: ↑September 12th, 2019, 10:56 amReading this thread is like going to McDonald's and complaining about the food.
