Biggest home loss since 2010

Post by dogie » November 3rd, 2019, 8:02 am

The 28-point loss last night was the biggest home loss since Hawaii beat USU 45-7 on October 23, 2010. That was the seventh 28+ point loss at home in the seven-year period of 2004-2010.

The worst home loss was Hawaii (63-10) in 2006, but Boise State also won by 52 In 2007 and Utah by 48 in 2006 in home shutouts. Those were three horrible games in a two-year stretch where the Aggies won only three games.

I had almost forgotten about those pathetic football performances, but those memories came rushing back last night.

If you go back before 2004, four touchdown home blowouts were quite infrequent.

As an aside, I expect the athletic department to make a note in the press release of the technically accurate, but not particularly informative, fact that the 28 point home loss was the biggest since Boise State beat USU by 27 on October 28, 2017.

During the third quarter of last night’s game, I mentioned to my son that it was one hour of my life that I would never get back. To end this post on the bright side, I realized as I woke up this morning that I was wrong!
