Yeah I’m sure that will be the case through the fall season on several guys.
Speaking of which did anyone see that bishop Davenport is ranked from one source as the number 8 player in Texas 6a football?

If he shows some promise, we can get him in a year or two in the transfer portal.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑December 7th, 2021, 4:07 pmNo where to go but up.FloridaAggie13 wrote: ↑December 7th, 2021, 4:06 pmGood for him. Going to a team that won just one game last year.

From what I saw, this isn't a loss at all. Better OL recruits have already committed.

So you're saying Blake and his staff are not good talent evaluators and never should have offered Reece in the first place?GrandPoubah wrote: ↑December 7th, 2021, 11:11 pmFrom what I saw, this isn't a loss at all. Better OL recruits have already committed.

You can make any ASSumption you want. It has already been suspected in previous posts that more recent recruits were trumping older offers.2004AG wrote: ↑December 8th, 2021, 7:51 amSo you're saying Blake and his staff are not good talent evaluators and never should have offered Reece in the first place?GrandPoubah wrote: ↑December 7th, 2021, 11:11 pmFrom what I saw, this isn't a loss at all. I just get tired that as soon as we lose somebody the narrative immediately goes to “he wasn’t that good anyways” “we can do better” “no big deal”.GrandPoubah wrote:You can make any ASSumption you want. I would say we need all the help we can get on the OL. I would say Blake is a good evaluator of talent so if Blake offered him, he is good.

He got an offer from us, a conference championship, and an offer from a PAC12 schools that hasn't won Jack Schitt in a long time. I imagine he was lured in by the promise to play sooner than later and it, of course, being a PAC12 school, formerly known as "The Conference of Champions."

Fun fact: in the end credits of talladega nights when Ricky Bobby said “if you don’t like big red the f*** you” it was supposed to be big blue to refer to recruits who decommit from usu. It even rhymes.

He's an 18 year old who is living his dream and following his heart, not sure why people get bent out of shape when the decision of a kid changes. Hell, my 17 year old changes her clothes 3 times before she makes it to the kitchen in the morning, this is who they are, this is who most of us were at that age too.
IMO, who cares, he doesn't want to play here, good luck to him, hope he kicks (I can't express myself without swearing), let's move on and focus on real Aggies.

I’d much rather be in Logan. My point was these kids may like weather and the coeds that wear a lot less clothes.

I fondly remember sitting on a patio in mid-March while in Tucson for a volleyball tournament at Univ. of Arizona (we lost in the finals to UofA) reading while only wearing shorts and a t-shirt and thinking, "Man, I can totally get used to this again." Back in Logan there was still about a foot of snow on the ground.
Of course, summers in Tucson might be more extreme than winters in Logan.

Re: Jacob Reece
I like the idea of picking up these guys from the transfer portal in a few years, it's like in the old days of parking your future recruits at the JC/CC level. Let him figure out he's just a number there but if he's any good we can pick him up down the road. It's all good.

Sometimes kids want to go to different schools, doesn’t always mean they weren’t good enough to play here.

Re: Jacob Reece
Is anyone seriously surprised that a PAC12 school in a warm weather climate is beating us out for recruits????? Seriously? Think about it objectively, if you knew you could get a full ride to a P12 school and likely start playing immediately, maybe even after red shirting, and you had no ties to USU, you wouldn't even think twice about it. The only reason you'd chose USU is if you knew for a fact that you had a better chance at getting PT, otherwise it's a no brainer. It's like the kids who turn down other offers and go to Stanford, yea you know you aren't winning a bunch of games, but hell it's Stanford, your degree has you set up pretty good. If you are applying for a job and they see Utah State vs Arizona, who do you think is getting looked at a bit more? I love USU and I'm an Aggie 1st, but lets be realistic here.

I think Jacob could be back eventually. One, Arizona sucks. Who's to say that Jedd Fisch is still going to be there in 2 1/2 years? Two, a bunch of his high school Polynesian buddies will all be starters here by then and will be kicking a$$. Why wouldn't he want to get back to playing with the fellas?

They are still very much "The Conference of Champions". Just look at all of their Women's Water Polo national championships.AggiesForever wrote: ↑December 8th, 2021, 2:19 pmHe got an offer from us, a conference championship, and an offer from a PAC12 schools that hasn't won Jack Schitt in a long time. We met some guys at the institute that invited us to crash on their floor. The institute teacher gave the girls that invited us a strong "No, that isn't happening" when they invited us. One of the guys' roommates didn't know we where there and was confused when he walked in late at night to a bunch of dudes sleeping on the floor. I want to say it was in 2001, which I believe was the same year as the van accident 20 miles west of Laramie while on our way to nationals.frankiesaysrelax wrote: ↑December 9th, 2021, 1:32 pmWhat year was that tourney in Tucson. Another memorable part of the trip was TJ getting the governor on the van to kick in because of how fast he was going down some big hill and then meeting one of Arizona's finest that was driving an undercover Fiero. I still have the picture around somewhere that we took with the trooper after he gave TJ the (expensive) ticket.
